Whoscall, the caller-ID and anti-scam app developed by Gogolook Philippines, brought together representatives from government, banking, technology and advocacy groups at its first Anti-Scam Community Meet-Up at The Globe Tower in Bonifacio Global City. The event aimed to strengthen collaboration among stakeholders in the fight against digital scams.
Held in partnership with Globe Telecom and ScamWatch Pilipinas, the event formed part of Whoscall’s “Know the Unknown” campaign, which aims to help Filipinos identify suspicious calls, messages and URLs and report potential scams.
The meet-up comes as the Philippines continues to record a high rate of suspected scam activity. Whoscall said the country’s suspected scam rate stood at 4.1%, remaining above the international average for the sixth consecutive year.
Mel Migriño, country head and general manager of Gogolook Philippines, said bringing different sectors together is key to addressing the growing threat.
“This first Anti-Scam Community Meet-Up is a landmark moment. For the first time, we are enjoining government, private sector, and communities in one ecosystem to fight scams,” Migriño said.
The gathering focused on sharing emerging scam trends, strengthening prevention strategies and identifying ways to improve anti-scam tools and responses. It also sought to expand a community that can help promote safer digital practices among Filipinos.
Globe Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer Yoly Crisanto discussed the company’s GoSafe program, which combines public awareness, security features and customer protection measures.
ScamWatch Pilipinas co-founder Jocel De Guzman highlighted the importance of equipping users with practical tools, rather than relying solely on awareness. He cited Whoscall as a key component of the organization’s Anti-Scam Quad Model, which focuses on identifying, preventing and reporting scams while helping protect other members of the community.
The event also featured presentations from Globe Head of AI and Privacy Governance Derick Adil, Meta Head of Public Policy Gio Tingson and Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center Director Paulo Ullado.
Ullado shared updates on the local scam landscape and the planned National Anti-Scam Hub, which aims to improve inter-agency coordination, reporting, and response.
Whoscall is available on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
