WalterMart once again demonstrated its commitment to education by participating in this year’s Brigada Eskwela, the Department of Education’s annual nationwide effort to prepare public schools for the new academic year.

Through customer generosity, employee volunteerism, and education-focused programs, the company continued its long-standing support for learners and school communities across the country.

What began in 2010 as a simple volunteer-led school clean-up drive has grown into a nationwide campaign. In 2021, WalterMart expanded its efforts to include the distribution of school kits, transforming Brigada Eskwela into a mall-wide initiative that has since supported more than 1,100 schools and 30,000 students.

This year’s campaign partnered with 150 schools across North Luzon, South Luzon, and Metro Manila.

Grade 1 students received school kits through mall-led and community-based activities, made possible by customer contributions and the support of partner brands including Nagaraya, CDO, Nissin, Presto, Alaska Milk, Similac, Monde Nissin, and Surf. Customers who participated also received Brigada Eskwela Thank You Cards with exclusive vouchers from WalterMart Supermarket, WalterMart Department Store, World of Fun, and Fun Time.

WalterMart teams also led school clean-up activities across partner communities, working alongside teachers, parents, and volunteers to prepare classrooms ahead of the school year. Cleaning supplies were provided by partner brands Zonrox, Mortein, and Domex. WalterMart also installed pedestrian crossing signages, “Happy Back to School” signages, and safety bollards in participating schools.
