For many Filipinos, seeing a doctor can mean hours on the road and a full day away from work or family. The launch of the HEAL Mobile Clinic by the Toyota Mobility Foundation, together with Toyota Motor Philippines Foundation and UP–Philippine General Hospital, aims to change that, bringing essential healthcare services directly into communities through a convenient, mobile solution.
As part of the program, two Mobile Clinics—each built from a Toyota Coaster—are rolling out to bring healthcare closer to home. The first is now stationed in Ternate, Cavite, helping residents access essential care without the long and tiring trips, while supporting more timely and inclusive healthcare for the community.

During this initial phase, residents can access Chest X-ray and Electrocardiogram (ECG) services, with laboratory diagnostics set to follow as the clinic reaches full operational capacity.
Each Toyota Coaster unit is designed to operate as a fully equipped mobile healthcare facility offering eight key diagnostic services: Chest X-ray, ECG, Hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c), Urinalysis, Complete Blood Count (CBC), Lipid profile, Fasting Blood Sugar Test (FBS)/Random Blood Sugar Test (RBS), and Creatinine. These diagnostics support the early detection and management of common conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, kidney disease, and respiratory illnesses.

For Ternate’s 28,000 residents, the impact is immediate and meaningful. Some patients previously had to travel more than two hours—and nearly 100 kilometers round-trip—to reach UP-PGH in Manila. With the Mobile Clinic now stationed at the town’s Municipal Health Office, essential diagnostics are available closer to home, saving time, money, and effort for patients and their families.
The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Ternate will provide support through essential infrastructure and utilities, including power supply, patient waiting areas, and ambulance access. Meanwhile, UP-PGH, through its Community Health and Development Program, will supply and oversee the medical teams responsible for operating the Mobile Clinic.
A second Mobile Clinic will soon serve communities in and around New Clark City, Tarlac.
To further improve efficiency, both units will feature a digital self-check-in and automated appointment system, helping reduce waiting times and streamline care.
