Putting an end to the frustration of cracked screens and expensive repairs, Human Mobile Devices (HMD) has unveiled the HMD Skyline, a midrange phone that prioritizes repairability alongside functionality and design.
HMD is leading the charge in phone repairability with the Skyline’s innovative Gen2 design. Unlike traditional phones, the Skyline has a user-friendly back cover that can be easily removed with a screwdriver. This allows you (or a repair center) to quickly and affordably repair the unit—whether to replace cracked screen, fix bent charging ports, or swap out depleted batteries.
Beyond ease of repair, the Skyline boasts a sleek design with a clever internal mechanism. A single screw pops open the back cover, revealing a screw-driven rotating arm that facilitates easy disassembly. This innovative design streamlines repairs while maintaining the phone’s aesthetics.
The HMD Skyline caters to creators with a powerful camera system. At the back is a triple rear camera system headlined by a 108MP main camera with OIS and EIS, alongside a 13MP ultrawide and a 5MP telephoto camera.
The 50MP front camera with autofocus and eye-tracking ensures sharp selfies, while gesture control allows users to activate the camera with a simple peace sign or one of three other hand gestures.
HMD Skyline also comes with a new Detox Mode with custom app and contact blocking that allows users take a break from the digital world. When turned on, Detox Mode shuts down your socials during scheduled breaks.
HMD Skyline is powered by a Snapdragon 7s Gen2 CPU with up to 12GB RAM and up to 256GB internal storage. It runs Android 14 with two years of OS upgrades and three years of security patches.
It’s equipped with a Corning Gorilla Glass 3-protected 6.55-inch Full HD+ panel with a 144Hz refresh rate and up to 1,000 nits of brightness.
The 4600 mAh replaceable battery supports 33W charging, 15W magnetic wireless charging, and 5W reverse wireless charging.
Available in Neon Pink and Twisted Black, the HMD Skyline is priced at £399 for the 8/128GB and £499 for the 12/256GB variant.
