TechLife recently introduced Pad Lite 8”, a sleek new tablet that combines power and portability in a stylish design.
Aimed at students, creatives, and casual users, the Pad Lite 8” offers practical features and a strong battery life, all in a lightweight body. At just P4,999, it offers an affordable solution for anyone seeking a reliable everyday tablet.
But does it deliver on its promises? We used the tablet as part of our daily arsenal for a week to find out.
Bring it anywhere
Thanks to its compact size, the TechLife Pad Lite 8” barely adds to the heft of an everyday carry. Sleek at only 8.5mm thick and with a flat design, it doesn’t take a lot of space on a table or inside a handbag. It’s easy to handle, weighing 337.9g, and can be moved from one surface to another with ease. Navigating the 8-inch display is manageable for the most part.

TechLife also included a detachable stand, so that’s one less extra accessory to buy and carry around. You can set it to landscape mode on your kitchen counter and watch videos while cooking or cleaning, or position it on your desk in portrait mode so you can browse social media or read an e-book on the side while you work or study. The stand is sturdy enough to support the tablet’s weight. Still, we advise taking extra care when installing and adjusting the stand, as it’s made of plastic and can break with just enough force, especially at the hinge part.

Connectivity will not be a problem even when on the go. This tablet supports VoLTE and dual 4G/LTE standby, which means clear calls and uninterrupted internet access. Mobile data sharing or hotspot is also available on this device.
The Pad Lite 8” has a hybrid SIM tray. You can use it to house two nano SIM cards from different networks for more mobile data connectivity options. If you prioritize storage space, you can use one slot for a nano SIM card and the other for a microSD card.
Everyday companion
The TechLife Pad Lite 8” comes with an 8-inch LCD display, offering an 800 x 1280 HD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. It’s a good size for binge-watching videos, and the colors are surprisingly vibrant for its price. Scrolling is a smooth experience, whether on social media or when reading books and manga, with the text remaining crisp throughout. The thick bezels take some getting used to, but it’s not a deal-breaker at this price point.

We appreciate that the audio can get really loud, thanks to the two loudspeakers located at the bottom of the device (when in portrait mode). Quality-wise, it’s decent, but what’s great is that even at medium-level volume, the sound can be heard clearly from a couple of feet away. There’s also a 3.5mm jack if you want to use wired headphones.

The Pad Lite 8” also comes equipped with a 5MP rear and 5MP selfie cameras. The rear camera produces decent photos in good lighting, but expect a decline in quality when capturing moving subjects or shooting in dimly lit environments. It’s not going to replace your phone’s camera, but it’s handy for snapping quick pics of notes, documents, or anything you need to remember. Similarly, the front camera performs well for video calls and produces decent selfies in bright lighting conditions.
Long-lasting power
TechLife equips the Pad Lite 8” with a massive 6000mAh dual-cell battery that promises long hours of use.
We binged all two seasons of Wind Breaker in one day—that’s around 10 hours of non-stop watching—and we only had to charge when we were already somewhere in the middle of the second season. Playing music with the screen turned off has a minimal impact on the battery percentage, making this tablet an ideal companion for listening to music while working, studying, exercising, or simply doing anything.

From 100%, it took a little over a day before we had to charge again when we used the Pad Lite 8” for everyday tasks like browsing social media and reading while playing casual games or watching videos from time to time.
The TechLife Pad Lite 8” has a big battery, which means it takes a few hours to fully charge from around 15–20% using its 10W charger. On the bright side, it also supports 5W reverse charging, which comes in handy when you need to top up smaller devices while you’re out and about.
Reliable daily driver
In terms of performance, the TechLife Pad Lite 8” can handle everyday tasks well with its 1.6GHz octa-core UNISOC T606 processor. It’s equipped with 4GB of RAM, plus virtual RAM expansion that brings the total up to 8GB for better multitasking.
Web and social media browsing, as well as media playback, were smooth and hitch-free throughout our review. Multitasking and switching between lightweight apps were generally seamless. There were occasional slight delays when loading apps, but nothing that significantly impacted our experience.
It’s best to manage expectations when it comes to mobile gaming; you should not encounter any problems for casual games, but will need to configure to the lower settings for more graphics-intensive titles, and even then, you might still experience some lag.

The tablet offers 64GB of built-in storage, which is okay for a budget device. You can add up to 1TB of extra space through the microSD slot. Additionally, it supports up to 2TB OTG, allowing for file transfer from the tablet to any compatible drives.
The Pad Lite 8” runs on the TechLife Pad UI, based on the latest Android 15. This means that it has updated Android features and security functions, plus support for Google Gemini. We are glad to find that there’s very minimal bloatware out of the box.
It also comes pre-installed with Google Kids Space, which parents can use to create a dedicated, kid-friendly space on the tablet. This feature supports in-tablet parental controls, application curation, content filtering, and screen time monitoring.

Speed says
For the price, the TechLife Pad Lite 8” is a smart pick for anyone who needs a reliable device for schoolwork, streaming, or everyday use. It’s compact, has a long-lasting battery, and offers useful features whether you’re learning, relaxing, or working on personal projects.
