With a rapidly expanding network of 123 Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (EVCS) across 69 malls nationwide, and an ambitious plan to add 50 more this year, SM is paving the way for greener road trips
SM Supermalls, a Department of Energy (DOE)-accredited operator of EVCS, ensures its stations meet national standards, addressing infrastructure limitations and promoting EV adoption in line with DOE goals.
Northbound adventures made easy (and greener)
Heading to Baguio? An EV journey from SM Mall of Asia (MOA) to SM City Baguio (266km) could save approximately 0.067 metric tons of CO₂ on a roundtrip—which is equivalent to 7.6 gallons of gasoline or 74.6 pounds of coal. Convenient top-up stations are available along the way at SM City Rosales and SM City Urdaneta Central.
Similar eco-savings await those departing from SM North EDSA (0.065 tons of CO₂ avoided) and even SM City Fairview (0.06 tons of CO₂ avoided, potentially without needing a charge!). Shorter northern trips to Clark from SM MOA or SM North EDSA offer up to 0.02 metric tons of CO₂ savings without requiring charging stops.
Southbound escapades with a clean and green conscience
Popular destinations like Tagaytay, Laguna, Batangas, and even the distant Legazpi are now more accessible for EV drivers. A trip to Tagaytay from SM MOA saves approximately 0.017 tons of CO₂, while longer journeys to SM City Naga from SM MOA can include a charging stop at SM City Lucena, with roundtrip CO₂ savings of 0.061 metric tons—equal to 6.9 gallons of gasoline or 67.8 pounds of coal.
Visayas and Mindanao embrace electric mobility
The commitment to eco-friendly travel extends beyond Luzon. EV owners in Visayas and Mindanao can readily find charging stations at SM City Cebu, SM City Cagayan de Oro (Downtown and Uptown), and SM Lanang in Davao. A 280km roundtrip between SM City CDO Downtown and SM Lanang in Davao avoids 0.035 tons of CO₂—equal to 3.9 gallons of gasoline or 38.5 pounds of coal—with no stopovers needed.
