realme recently launched the realme 13 Pro Series 5G in the Philippines, which includes the realme 13 Pro 5G and realme 13 Pro+ 5G. These phones feature powerful processors, plenty of storage, and advanced AI cameras.

Dubbed “DSLR in your pocket,” the realme 13 Pro 5G comes with Sony sensors and a range of AI functions that promise ultra-clear images and footage. This phone also brings features that aim to bring its users immersive, connected, and next-level experiences.

Want to know more? We spent some time with the realme 13 Pro 5G to help you decide if it’s the right phone for you.

Camera

One of the very first things we tried once we got our hands on the realme 13 Pro 5G was its dual rear camera, headlined by a 50MP f/1.88 Sony LYT-600 sensor with 2x in-sensor zoom and up to 20x digital zoom. An 8MP f/2.2 ultrawide lens and an LED flash complete the camera setup at the back.

After it introduced AI camera features in its GT series, realme has also fitted similar capabilities to the 13 Pro series. The realme 13 Pro 5G features AI Ultra Clarity for clearer and crisper images, AI Group Photo Enhance to optimize facial clarity in group pictures, and AI Portrait Algorithms for better bokeh.

Because of this, the resulting images are decent to great, even in low-light settings. The details are sharp, and the colors are vibrant once the AI has post-processed the shots. You will see details slightly reduced when shooting at 2x zoom or higher–which is understandable–but that is also fixed after the post-processing.

A few other cool AI functions are the AI Smart Removal, which allows you to remove things or people from the pictures after taking them, and the AI Audio Zoom, which reduces noise and focuses on an audio source.

In front is a 32MP f/2.45 Sony IMX-615 camera. Image and video quality are good to great, depending on lighting. Beauty enhancement functions can go extreme at times, so make sure to adjust according to your preference. The front camera also works accurately and quickly for facial unlock.

Here are some photos we took:

Design & construction

We particularly love the feel and looks of this phone with its Monet-inspired design. It’s slim at 8.41mm and has curved edges, which makes it easy and light to hold. Our review unit came in the Emerald Green colorway, featuring a silky vegan leather finish that is fingerprint-resistant. The phone also offers IP65 dust and water resistance.

The cameras at the back are highlighted by the Sunrise Halo design, a gold ring accent around the entire module for the Emerald Green colorway. We think it’s a good thing that realme retained this design as it looks sophisticated and not as common as the square- or rectangular-shaped camera islands of other smartphones.

The gold-theme accent continues on the phone’s metal frame. The power button and volume keys sit on the right side, while the left side is free of any keys or ports. The realme 13 Pro 5G has two loudspeakers: one at the bottom together with the USB Type-C port and SIM card slot, and the other is on top with the microphone. There’s no audio jack on this device.

Display & multimedia

The realme 13 Pro 5G is equipped with a 6.7-inch curved OLED display with Full HD+ (2400 x 1080) resolution. For extra protection, the screen is fitted with Corning Gorilla Glass 7i. The in-display fingerprint sensor is also reliable, providing accurate and seamless performance most of the time.

Overall, viewing on the phone’s screen is immersive. The curved design and slim bezels provide more screen real estate for watching videos and gaming. With a brightness of 600 nits typical and up to 2000 nits at peak, content stays clear even in bright lighting conditions.

realme also claims 100% color accuracy on the 13 Pro 5G’s display. Indeed, the colors on the screen are close to real life, thanks to the deep blacks and accurate hues on images and videos.

Animations appear smooth all throughout with the screen’s up to 120Hz adaptive refresh and 240Hz touch sampling rates. For eye protection, features such as DC Dimming, 2160Hz PWM Dimming, Eye Comfort Mode, Eye Fatigue Mode, and Bedtime and Paper Texture Modes are available.

Audio comes out clear from the top and bottom Hi-Res loudspeakers. At maximum volume, the speakers are loud enough, and the sound quality remains decent.

Performance

The realme 13 Pro 5G is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 processor with an Adreno 710 GPU. It has 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, which is standard for its price. The phone also supports 5G, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, and Wi-Fi 6.

Running on Android 14-based realme UI 5.0, this phone’s interface and functions should be familiar to users already using a realme device. We feel that there’s a lot of bloatware out of the box, but the good news it that most of them can be easily removed.

With all this combined, users can get a smooth mobile experience. Daily tasks and casual browsing should go with no hitch at all. In terms of gaming, we were able to play PUBG Mobile, Genshin Impact, and Asphalt 8 with little to no lags.

The massive 5200mAh battery provides more than a day of power if you’re not playing graphics-intensive games for long periods. Even if you watch videos or browse a lot, you’ll still have battery left by the day’s end. The 45W SUPERVOOC fast-charging is a lifesaver, especially when you need a quick charge, like when we were about to do a photo walk and realized our review unit was at just 5% battery.

Speed says

The realme 13 Pro 5G is ideal for those who love capturing photos and videos of their travels or daily life. Its AI-powered camera helps you create clear and engaging content without needing bulky camera gear. With its competitive features, reliable performance, and stylish design, it’s an easy choice for content creators.
