The Villarreal Philippines Academy is set to make local football history as it hosts the inaugural Villarreal 7s Filipinas Cup on December 13 and 14 at the Ayala Vermosa Football Pitch.
More than 67 players from the Villarreal Academies in Sydney and Brisbane are flying in for the event, joining homegrown talents from various Philippine football academies led by Villarreal Philippines Academy, the official partner academy of Villareal CF a.k.a. “The Yellow Submarine” club competing in LaLiga.

Adding star power to the competition is the special appearance of Villarreal CF legend Marcos Senna, who will share his expertise, inspire young athletes, and reinforce the club’s commitment to global grassroots development.
The Brazilian-born midfielder, who became a key figure in Spanish football, enjoyed an illustrious 11-year run with Villarreal CF—becoming one of the club’s most-capped players and helping secure UEFA Intertoto Cup victories. Senna also played a crucial role in Spain’s historic 2008 UEFA European Championship win.

Prior to the weekend tournament, the Villarreal Philippines Academy will host a media luncheon with members of the Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) at Dusit Thani Manila, offering a rare meet-and-greet opportunity with the iconic midfielder.
