At the recently concluded ‘Made by Google’ event held at the company headquarters in Mountain View, California, the tech giant unveiled a new line of Pixel 9 smartphones. At the top sits the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, the next evolution in its foldable lineup.
The Pixel 9 Pro Fold features the largest inner display ever seen on a mobile device—a square Super Actua Flex 8-inch LTPO 120z OLED—that provides users with ample screen real estate for multitasking, entertainment, and productivity.
The outer panel, on the other hand, is a 6.3-inch LTPO 120Hz OLED.
Both displays have a full HD+ resolution and a peak brightness of 2700nits. The two panels also share the same 10MP selfie cams.
The device’s fluid-friction hinge allows for a seamless and satisfying opening experience, while its durable construction ensures protection against everyday wear and tear.
It’s also one of the thinnest foldables in the market today: 5.1mm when unfolded, 10.5mm when folded.
The foldable is powered by the Google Tensor G4 processor and comes with 16GB RAM and a choice of 256GB or 512GB of storage.
The foldable phone features multiple cameras powered by Google’s Gemini. It includes a 48MP main sensor, a 10.5MP ultrawide, and a 10.8MP telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom and 20x Super Res Zoom.
As expected, Google is bringing its AI prowess to photo editing with the Magic Editor. The Pixel Fold can automatically suggest optimal crops and other enhancements, transforming snapshots into stunning images.
The device also leverages AI to optimize user experiences, with features like Split Screen, Dual Screen for Google Meet, and Pixel Screenshots enhancing productivity.
The Pixel 9 Pro Fold comes with a 4650mAh battery, fast charging with Google 45W USB-C charger (sold separately), wireless charging, and Android 14.
It’s available in Porcelain and Obsidian colorways and is priced in the US as follows:
- 16GB + 256GB: $1,799
- 16GB/512GB: $1,999
