We all know the feeling: you pick up your phone to find the “perfect” gift, and an hour later you’re still stuck scrolling through tabs, second-guessing choices, and comparing products you didn’t even plan to look at.

Google wants to make that experience a lot less stressful.

The company is rolling out a major AI-powered shopping update in the Gemini app, designed to help you find products, compare options, and make decisions faster—all in a single conversation.

Instead of jumping between websites, users can now simply describe what they need in natural, everyday language, like they would to a friend. Gemini then responds with structured, helpful shopping guidance based on real product data, including prices, reviews, and availability across the web.

Shopping help, right inside chat

With the new update, shopping becomes part of the Gemini conversation itself. You can see shoppable product listings, side-by-side comparison tables, pricing details, and links to where items can be purchased—without leaving the app.

Responses are designed to be visually rich and easy to scan, helping you quickly narrow down choices based on your specific needs.

For example, a prompt like “birthday gift ideas for my dad who is into the NBA. My budget is P2,000” can generate a carousel of gift ideas with images you can browse instantly. Meanwhile, more complex decisions—like choosing luggage for a weekend trip—can surface comparison tables showing differences in size, weight, and features.

Powered by Google’s Shopping Graph

Behind the scenes, these features are powered by Google’s Shopping Graph, which includes more than 60 billion product listings worldwide. Around two billion of those listings are updated every hour, helping ensure the information you see is current and relevant.

Google says the goal is to make shopping feel less like a chore and more like a guided, personalized experience. For everyday shoppers, that could mean less time searching—and more time actually deciding.
