What’s the true cost of convenience? For the planet, it’s mounting plastic waste—a global crisis where every purchase, and every package it comes in, leaves a lasting footprint on the Earth.

In the face of this global crisis, Beko Philippines is proving that innovation and responsibility can go hand in hand—transforming discarded plastics into tangible opportunities for the planet and local communities.

In partnership with PCX Markets, a global plastic responsibility platform, Beko has achieved a landmark sustainability milestone: in 2024, it recovered and diverted 100% of its plastic footprint, which goes beyond the requirements of the country’s Extended Producer Responsibility law. More than 39,000kg of plastic waste—equivalent to 13 million 3-gram sachets—was diverted from the environment.

Beko Philippines’ initiatives span several community-driven projects. Through the Top Lun Project, 33,000 kg of HDPE (high-density polyethylene) plastics from bottle caps were recycled into flakes for new products.

The Holcim-Geocycle Project diverted 4,000kg of flexible plastics from the environment. These were converted into alternative fuel for cement production, reducing reliance on imported fossil fuels.

Meanwhile, the Aling Tindera Project waste-to-cash initiative empowered women micro-entrepreneurs to collect plastics for co-processing. This not only helped sustainability efforts but also added around P7,500 in incremental income for these women and their communities.

“At Beko, sustainability is at the core of everything we do. Our products are designed to deliver comfort and convenience to every Filipino home, while also caring for the planet,” said Alper Yildirim, Country Director of Beko Philippines.

“We are proud of our recent collaboration with PCX Markets, turning plastic waste into valuable opportunities for the environment and the community. We are committed to magnifying our efforts, and we hope this inspires our customers to take pride in choosing Beko as well as for other organizations to be inspired with their own sustainability initiatives,” he added.
