ASUS recently introduced a new line of laptops with content creators and working professionals in mind. What makes them different? They’re equipped with OLED displays. The line includes the ASUS Zenbook 14X OLED, Vivobook Pro 14 OLED, and Vivobook Pro 15 OLED.

We got our hands on the ASUS Vivobook Pro 14 OLED (M3401QC), the range’s 14-inch workhorse that offers a vivid OLED screen and solid-on-paper specs. Read on to get a first quick look at the laptop.

First look

Out of the box, you get a sleek 18.9mm thin machine and a charger. Our review unit comes in the neutral color of Quiet Blue. The Vivobook sports an overall clean design, peppered with cool accents here and there. The ASUS Vivobook logo on the cover flaunts a metallic finish, while the Enter key features an unconventional pattern-blocked design.

Ports are also aplenty on both sides of the laptop. On the left, you have two USB 2.0 ports. A USB 3.2 Type-A, USB 3.2 Type-C, full-size HDMI, microSD card reader, and audio jack sit on the right.

Of course, the star is the 14-inch 2.8K OLED display with a 16:10 aspect ratio and 90Hz refresh rate. The thin top and side bezels make the screen look even bigger.

The PANTONE-validated and VESA DisplayHDR 600 True Black-certified screen also boasts a 100% DI-P3 color gamut and 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio. Working for long hours in front of this laptop shouldn’t be a problem with its low blue light and flicker-free display.

Overall, you get a vibrant screen with deep blacks and true-to-life colors. The ASUS Vivobook Pro 14 OLED also comes equipped with Harman/Kardon speakers to match the display with an equally immersive sound and ASUS’ AI Noise-Cancelling technology for clear audio.

The Vivobook Pro 14 OLED brings solid muscle power. Our review unit runs on AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX (an Intel Core i5 configuration is also available) with 16GB DDR4 32000MHz RAM and 512GB PCIe 3.0 x2 NVMe SSD. This should be enough for users to get smooth and fast performance.

The NVIDIA RTX 3050 GPU with NVIDIA Studio Drivers ensures powerful performance for content creators, working professionals, and other productivity users. The laptop also comes installed with Windows 10 Home (upgradeable to Windows 11) and has a dual-fan cooling system.

This ASUS laptop also flaunts neat features that level up the whole user experience. To name a few: the latest WiFi 6 (802.11ax) for stronger connectivity, the NumberPad 2.0 that can easily be turned on/off on the trackpad, the nifty Webcam shield for the 720p HD cam, and the fast and accurate fingerprint sensor on the power button.

Initial impressions

The ASUS Vivobook Pro 14 OLED has a lot going for it. It has a clean, professional design, powerful specs, and a gorgeous OLED display. It targets on-the-go individuals who want a workhorse that can allow them to create content or perform demanding tasks whenever they need to and wherever they are.

We will put the Vivobook Pro 14 OLED to test to give you its real-life performance and see if it is as good as it is on paper. Watch for our full review of this laptop.
