Yamaha Motor Philippines (YMPH) commemorated Yamaha Day 2025 with a milestone celebration marking 70 years of kando.

Kando is a Japanese word for the deep satisfaction and intense excitement felt when encountering exceptional value or performance. For Yamaha, however, kando is more than a feeling; it’s a way of life and the driving force behind every breakthrough in motorcycles, marine engines, music, and robotics.

Held at the Malarayat Golf and Country Club in Batangas, the celebration had the theme “Bridging Legacy and Tomorrow Through Kando,” uniting thousands of YMPH employees for a full-day experience that honored Yamaha’s global heritage while setting sights on the future.

Highlights of the event included a human formation of the Yamaha 70th anniversary logo, an immersive Kando Journey walk-through exhibit, and adrenaline-pumping motorcycle test rides.

70 years of Yamaha

Yamaha’s legacy of innovation began in July 1955 with the launch of the YA1—nicknamed Akitombo or the Red Dragonfly. Unlike the all-black motorcycles of its time, the YA1 stood out with its elegant two-tone cream and chestnut finish, reminiscent of a fine horse’s coat. But it was more than just style—the YA1 proved its power by winning the grueling Mt. Fuji Ascent Race, a victory that sparked the birth of Yamaha Motor.

Seventy years later, that same pioneering spirit continues to propel Yamaha’s journey—across roads and oceans, through sound and technology—shaping the world of mobility, music, and beyond.
