Priced at P44,999, the X200 FE is positioned as the first “compact flagship” in vivo’s X series. It aims to deliver a balance of portability and premium performance—without compromising on design, camera quality, speed, or durability.
But is it really the compact powerhouse it claims to be? After spending time with the device, here’s what stood out.
Design and construction
The vivo X200 FE is designed for those who have been longing for a smaller flagship—or have grown accustomed to using one. Measuring just 71.76 mm wide, 7.99 mm thick, and weighing only 186 grams, it’s comfortable enough to use with just one hand. Whether you’re texting, gaming, or scrolling, the phone feels light, compact, and effortless to handle. (Your humble reviewer, if she may add, couldn’t stop raving about its size to anyone who would listen.)
Despite the slim frame, vivo didn’t compromise on durability. The metal frame—which is aerospace-grade according to vivo—not only gives the phone a premium feel but also adds solid protection. The front panel comes reinforced with Gorilla Shield Glass. It comes with IP69 dust- and water-resistance and even carries military-grade certification, which means you don’t need to worry too much when you’re outdoors or caught in unexpected weather.
vivo also included a cover case in the box for those seeking extra protection. It’s a slim case, too, so it doesn’t take away much from the phone’s compact and lightweight feel.
The rear design also deserves mention. It’s made of glass with a metallic sand anti-glare finish that feels smooth to the touch while resisting fingerprints fairly well. The “Rhythm Eye” camera module integrates neatly into the back without taking up too much space.
Our review unit came in Black Luxe, a sleek and professional shade that’s hard to go wrong with. For those who prefer something more playful, there’s also a Blue Breeze colorway that adds a stylish pop.
As for ports and buttons, the power and volume keys sit on the right side, leaving the left edge clean. At the bottom, you’ll find the USB-C port, SIM card slot, and loudspeaker grille.
Overall, the vivo X200 FE feels as good as it looks—compact, durable, and premium, without being overly flashy.
Display and multimedia
On the front, the vivo X200 FE features a 6.31-inch LTPO AMOLED display that reaches 1800 nits in High Brightness Mode and can achieve a peak brightness of 5000 nits for HDR content. Translation? You won’t struggle to read or watch videos outdoors, even under direct sunlight.
Colors pop beautifully on this screen, thanks to vivo’s partnership with ZEISS for its Master Color technology. It delivers rich saturation and vibrant hues—though not always perfectly accurate—making it ideal not just for Netflix binges but also for editing photos on the go.
The slim bezels and punch-hole front camera create an immersive, uninterrupted viewing and gaming experience, despite the phone’s compact size. Meanwhile, the 460 ppi density ensures sharp details, while 2160Hz high-frequency PWM dimming and SGS Low Blue Light certification help keep your eyes comfortable during extended screen sessions.
The display also supports a 120Hz refresh rate, which enhances gameplay and smooth scrolling. Just keep in mind that this setting can consume more power.
For audio, the stereo speakers deliver balanced output that works well for music, calls, and casual gaming. They’re not the loudest in their class, but when paired with quality headphones, the X200 FE produces noticeably more detailed and refined sound.
Camera
If there’s one area where vivo consistently shines, it’s mobile photography—and the X200 FE continues that streak with ZEISS co-engineered imaging.
Its rear setup includes a 50MP ZEISS Super Telephoto Camera, a feature rarely found in compact devices. It captures sharp details even when zoomed in, while vivo’s AI Telephoto Enhance helps reduce common issues like shake and loss of detail. Whether you’re shooting distant architecture or nature scenes, the zoomed-in results are impressively clear.
The primary camera uses a Sony IMX921 VCS Bionic Sensor, which produces vibrant and accurate colors overall. Low-light shots come out bright and detailed, aided by the wide f/1.88 aperture and optical image stabilization (OIS). It’s also impressively quick—photos remain sharp and clear even when I take quick snaps as I walk.
There are a few more features that we liked. ZEISS Multifocal Portraits let users choose from multiple focal lengths (23mm, 35mm, 50mm, 85mm, and 100mm), while ZEISS Style Bokeh options, inspired by classic lenses, create natural-looking background blur. Together, they provide versatility and polish for portrait photography.
Selfies are just as strong thanks to the 50MP front camera. From casual snaps to vlogs, it delivers excellent results, complemented by creative tools such as Film-Style Live Portraits and Street Photography Mode.
Battery, performance, and user experience
Compact doesn’t have to mean compromise—and vivo proves it with the 6,500mAh BlueVolt battery tucked inside the X200 FE’s slim frame. It’s one of the largest batteries you’ll find in a compact flagship today.
In real-world use, it easily lasts a full day of heavy activity or nearly two days with moderate use. For reference, vivo claims the phone can deliver 25+ hours of YouTube playback, almost 16 hours of TikTok scrolling, or over 9 hours of gaming. Helping stretch that battery life are smart optimizations like Lightweight OS 2.0 power management and Heterogeneous Computing 2.0, which minimize drain even with background apps running.
Topping up the battery is just as impressive. With 90W FlashCharge support, we were able to go from 15% to over 50% in about half an hour—a real lifesaver when you need a quick charge. The only drawback? There’s no wireless charging support.
On the performance front, the vivo X200 FE runs on a MediaTek Dimensity 9300+ chipset, paired with up to 12GB of RAM plus an additional 12GB of dynamic RAM expansion. Storage won’t be an issue either, with a generous 512GB built-in to house your photos, files, and apps.
In everyday use, the phone breezes through multitasking and heavy applications. Switching between productivity tasks and entertainment feels seamless, with smooth and fluid performance throughout. Even with mobile gaming, the phone was able to handle demanding titles and deliver decent performance, although it heats up after a while.
On the software side, the vivo X200 FE runs Funtouch OS 15, based on Android 15, which feels polished and responsive. It’s further enhanced by smart features like Gemini Assistant, Circle to Search, and Smart Call Assistant.
Privacy is also well covered, with tools such as spam call blocking, screen sharing protection, and anti-harassment filters—all welcome additions in today’s digital-first landscape. For security, the phone includes both facial recognition and a fingerprint sensor, which proved fast and reliable throughout our review.
In terms of connectivity, it supports Bluetooth 5.4, Wi-Fi 7, 4G LTE, 5G, eSIM, GPS, and NFC, offering a complete suite of modern options.
Speed says
The vivo X200 FE is a standout compact flagship that doesn’t sacrifice quality. Stylish, lightweight, and pocket-friendly, it still packs features usually reserved for larger devices—such as a powerful camera system, a massive fast-charging battery, a bright and accurate display, and a durable, premium build.
While its price sits on the higher side, what you’re really paying for is a well-rounded flagship experience in a smaller form factor.
