TP in the Philippines has donated 15 computer units to the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Region 10 to support its Smart Village Initiative (SVI) in Northern Mindanao.
The donation, led by TP’s Cagayan de Oro site, will benefit learners in three designated Smart Villages: Camp Bilal in Lanao del Norte, Dalingap in Misamis Occidental, and Capihan in Bukidnon.
The initiative aims to improve digital access in underserved communities by providing residents with technology resources and training that can support employment, entrepreneurship, and other livelihood opportunities.
“Through initiatives like this, TP in the Philippines continues to strengthen its role as a partner in nation-building by providing access to digital resources, computer literacy, and introductory AI knowledge—essential competencies for the evolving future of work,” said James Garcia, Vice President for IT at TP in the Philippines.
DICT Region 10 has adopted the International Telecommunication Union’s Smart Village Initiative to help address the digital divide through improved internet access, digital literacy programs, and e-government services.
As part of the program, selected participants receive training in office productivity applications, basic AI tools, and social media marketing.
TP said the partnership reflects its commitment to expanding digital literacy and helping communities develop skills needed to participate in an increasingly digital and AI-driven economy.
