SM Supermalls is transforming urban life by making sustainability part of the everyday shopping experience. Through people-centric design, eco-conscious infrastructure, and smart transport solutions, SM is helping improve air quality in dense city centers across the country.
At SM Mall of Asia, for example, open-air arcades and the elevated MOA Sky offer breezy walkways ideal for relaxed strolls, outdoor dining, and open-air events. Meanwhile, SM Aura and SM North EDSA’s Sky Garden feature lush greenery and water installations that help lower indoor temperatures, clean the air, and provide natural cooling in high-density areas.

Additionally, select SM malls feature endemic plant species that help purify the air and support local ecosystems. These green spaces do more than beautify—they play an active role in improving environmental health and providing habitats for urban wildlife.
SM is also making sustainable transport more accessible. Transport terminals that accommodate jeepneys, buses, and vans encourage the use of public transportation over private vehicles.

To promote greener mobility, SM has over 5,000 bike parking spaces in its malls, as well as Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (EVCS) in 69 malls nationwide. By providing essential infrastructure for electric vehicles, SM is helping to lower carbon emissions and reduce reliance on fossil fuel.
Taking sustainability a step further, SM has partnered with Quezon City to roll out an air quality monitoring system. The system gathers real-time environmental data and publishes updates online—giving the public access to vital information while encouraging more informed, long-term action for urban air health.
