The realme 16 5G is a confident midranger with clear flagship-adjacent ambitions. It leans on strong fundamentals: a bright AMOLED display, a clean and practical design, and a massive 7,000mAh battery.
In daily use, it delivers a generally solid experience. It feels stable, easy to live with, and well put together for its segment. But at P25,999, it also has to justify more than just strong basics.
Does this phone meet our expectations? Here’s our review:
Design and build
Despite packing a 7,000mAh battery, the realme 16 5G doesn’t feel bulky. It’s slim, well-balanced, and still manageable for one-handed use.
Our Air White unit looks clean and premium, with good resistance to smudges and fingerprints. The Air Black option is more understated if you prefer a simpler look. Up front, you get Dragontrail Star D+ glass, while IP66, IP68, and IP69 ratings add strong protection against dust and water.

At the back, the pill-shaped camera module keeps the design streamlined. The built-in selfie mirror stands out as a small but genuinely useful addition, especially when using the rear camera for self-portraits.

It’s still a plastic build, but the fit and finish are solid, and the durability features help it punch above its class.
Display and audio
The realme 16 5G’s 6.57-inch AMOLED display is bright, vibrant, and smooth thanks to its 120Hz refresh rate.
It also claims 4,200 nits peak brightness levels and outdoor visibility is genuinely excellent even under harsh sunlight. However, the lack of HDR support holds it back in a noticeable way, especially for streaming content that should look more dynamic.

The in-display optical fingerprint sensor is reliable, though not the fastest. Bezels are slightly thicker than expected at this price, but they don’t significantly affect the overall experience.
The dual stereo speakers are loud and with a 300 percent boost mode that prioritizes volume over clarity. At higher volumes, distortion creeps in, so it’s best used below max for better balance.
Cameras
The realme 16 5G comes with a dual rear camera setup led by a 50MP Sony IMX852 sensor paired with a 2MP depth sensor.

In good lighting, images come out sharp and vibrant, with pleasing color saturation and solid dynamic range. In portrait mode, there’s a clean subject separation and the images have a pleasing depth. Skin tones tend to lean warm, though, so some post-editing may be needed.
Low-light performance is decent with night mode, but the lack of OIS means you’ll need a steady hand to avoid blur.
The absence of an ultrawide lens also limits shooting flexibility.
Up front, the 50MP camera delivers sharp, detailed selfies with good dynamic range.

Performance and battery life
The realme 16 5G is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6400 Turbo, and in daily use it feels like a stable, efficiency-focused midrange chip rather than a performance monster.
In daily use, it’s stable and smooth, especially with up to 12GB of RAM handling multitasking well. The vapor chamber cooling system helps sustain performance without noticeable overheating.

But the real star is the 7000mAh battery, which easily lasts a day and a half for most users. Even heavy users will struggle to drain it in a single day, and 60W SUPERVOOC charging gets it back to full in around 75 minutes.
The realme 16 5G runs realme UI 7 based on Android 16. It comes with three years of OS updates and four years of security patches, which is pretty solid for this segment.
Features such as AI Edit Genie 2.0 in the gallery add practical value, especially for quick edits and touch-ups.
Speed says

So, does the realme 16 5G meet expectations? For the most part, yes.
It delivers excellent battery life, a good AMOLED display, and a clean, well-built design. Performance is stable, and it’s easy to recommend for everyday use.
However, it stops short of being a complete midrange package. The lack of an ultrawide camera and OIS, and a display that doesn’t fully take advantage of its HDR potential, hold it back at this price.
It meets expectations—but doesn’t quite exceed them.
