Petron Corporation, the country’s largest oil refining and marketing company, is fueling the drive toward efficiency as the official fuel partner of the 2025 DOE–Petron Fuel EcoRun, set on September 24 along the Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway (TPLEX).

Organized by the Department of Energy (DOE), this year’s EcoRun will feature nearly 70 vehicles—including internal combustion engine (ICE), hybrid (HEV), plug-in hybrid (PHEV), and battery electric vehicles (BEV)—to highlight their fuel economy under real-world driving conditions.

All ICE and hybrid participants will run on Petron’s benchmark fuels: Petron XCS, a 95-octane premium gasoline with Tri-Activ Technology for maximum power, mileage, and cleaner combustion; and Petron Turbo Diesel, formulated with advanced additives to restore performance, protect CRDi engines, and cut emissions.

“By powering this EcoRun with our best-in-class fuels, we demonstrate that efficiency begins at the pump,” said Lubin B. Nepomuceno, General Manager of Petron Corporation. “Petron XCS and Petron Turbo Diesel are trusted by millions of Filipino motorists every day because they deliver real performance and real savings.”

The route will flag off from Petron TPLEX Northbound, turn around at the Rosario, La Union rotunda, and finish at Petron TPLEX Southbound, covering about 156 kilometers.

Beyond fuels, Petron is also expanding cleaner transport solutions with EV charging facilities at TPLEX stations, underscoring its commitment to both conventional and alternative energy.

The 2025 DOE–Petron Fuel EcoRun builds on earlier runs in 2016 and 2017, where Petron also served as official fuel partner. These events helped raise awareness on fuel-efficient driving, provided valuable performance data, and paved the way for improvements in vehicle efficiency across the industry.
