Global technology company OPPO is reinforcing its sustainability push this Earth Day with a series of initiatives aimed at reducing environmental impact while engaging millions of users worldwide. The company, which serves over 760 million users across over 90 countries and regions, says it is committed to making its entire operations carbon-neutral by 2050.
One key focus is product packaging. Guided by its “3R+1D” principle—Reduction, Recyclability, Reusability, and Degradability—OPPO is redesigning materials and processes to cut waste. The shift includes moving paper-based product guides to digital formats, which saved an estimated 110 million A4 sheets in 2025 alone. That translates to around 13,000 trees preserved and roughly 3,500 tons of carbon emissions avoided.
The company is also reducing plastic use by incorporating natural materials such as tea residue into packaging. This replaces up to 30% of traditional petroleum-based plastics.
OPPO is likewise addressing the growing global challenge of electronic waste. With e-waste projected to exceed 82 million tons by 2030, the company is focusing on extending device lifespans and strengthening recycling systems. In 2025, OPPO sold approximately 35,300 tons of products while recycling 1,187 tons of used devices across China and Europe.

The company is also working with communities to expand environmental awareness. In Kenya, OPPO partnered with conservation groups to support rhino monitoring efforts using advanced smartphone imaging technology at the Ol Pejeta Conservancy.
In India, OPPO has teamed up with the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) to launch the Generation Green Initiative. The program engaged over one million young people to help process more than 10,000 kilograms of e-waste.

Guided by the mission “Technology for Mankind, Kindness for the World,” OPPO will continue to advance sustainability initiatives worldwide, working hand in hand with users, partners, and all sectors of society to build a more sustainable future.
