Two years after the Mate 40 series was introduced globally, Huawei has unveiled its latest Mate series smartphones in China.
The new Mate series includes the Huawei Mate 50, Huawei Mate 50 Pro, and the Huawei Mate 50 RS Porsche Design, all powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen1 4G chipset and XMAGE cameras.
All three phones feature BeiDou Satellite Message, which gives the phones that ability to send texts via satellite communication and utilize navigation thanks to China’s global BeiDou satellite network. This allows for communication in areas without cellular signal.
The Pro and the RS Porsche Design models share a lot in common: 6.74-inch 120Hz OLED display, 4700mAh battery that supports up to 66W of wired charging, 50W of wireless charging, and 5W reverse wireless charging.
The Mate 50 Pro’s triple camera array is composed of a 50MP f/1.4 main camera, 13MP f/2.2 ultrawide, and 64MP f/3.5 periscope telephoto with 3.5x optical zoom.
Meanwhile, the RS Porsche Design gets a 50MP f/1.4 main shooter, 13MP f/2.2 ultrawide, and 48MP f/3.0 periscope telephoto macro with 3.5x optical zoom.
The Mate 50, on the other hand, sports a 6.7-inch 90Hz OLED display, triple camera system (50MP main + 12MP ultrawide + 12MP 5x telephoto lens).
It also has a smaller 4460mAh battery, but shares the same charging capabilities of the Mate 50 Pro and RS.
