Background noise doesn’t have to get in the way of important conversations. Smart Infinity, the premium postpaid brand of Smart, is introducing PureVoice, an AI-powered service that helps keep phone calls clear even in noisy surroundings.

The new feature reduces distractions from traffic, crowds, and music to make it easier for subscribers to take work calls or catch up with family and friends while on the go. It also works on smartphones without built-in noise cancellation technology.

Using PureVoice requires no app installation or additional setup. Subscribers can simply press 8# during a call to turn the feature on or off. Smart also plans to make the service available to more subscribers soon.

“Voice remains the quintessential service of any telecommunications company. While the way people communicate continues to evolve, the need for reliable, clear, and seamless conversations remains fundamental. Through PureVoice, we are modernizing voice communications and bringing it into the 5G era,” said Lloyd R. Manaloto, First Vice President and officer-in-charge of Smart.

PureVoice builds on Smart’s efforts to improve call quality through network upgrades and new technologies. In 2020, the telco completed its Voice over LTE (VoLTE) rollout, allowing subscribers to make high-quality voice calls while continuing to use mobile data. It also introduced Video over LTE (ViLTE), which lets users make video calls directly through their phone’s dialer without third-party apps.

“Advancements in our Smart network and AI capabilities have laid the foundation for a more intelligent and enhanced calling experience. This enables us to push the boundaries of innovation, developing solutions that make everyday conversations clearer, more seamless, and more valuable for our subscribers,” said Debbie M. Hu, FVP and Wireless Network Business Partner of Smart.

Smart also cited its performance in the National Telecommunications Commission’s (NTC) latest quality-of-service tests in Metro Manila, where it recorded zero dropped calls, within the regulator’s prescribed threshold and ahead of other service providers.
