Globe has launched its VoLTE (Voice over LTE) roaming capabilities with partners across Asia and the US. This will ensure that Globe customers can enjoy uninterrupted high-quality voice calls and text messaging even as foreign networks phase out their legacy 2G and 3G infrastructure.
The service is currently available in Japan via Softbank, Australia via Optus, Hong Kong via CSL, Taiwan via Taiwan Mobile, Macau via CTM, and the US via T-Mobile and AT&T.
Globe is also set to expand its VoLTE roaming coverage to Italy through TIM and Wind.
VoLTE offers several advantages over traditional voice calls, including faster call setup times, clearer voice quality, and the ability to use data and voice services simultaneously. This means Globe customers can stay connected and productive while abroad without worrying about dropped calls or high roaming charges.
“Traveling abroad should not mean being cut off from life back home. With VoLTE roaming, Globe ensures that our customers stay fully connected wherever they are, whether making calls for real-time updates or receiving important text notifications such as OTPs from their most-used apps. The last thing they should worry about is losing communication,” said Paula Rivera-Castillo, Head of Globe International Business.
To enjoy VoLTE roaming, customers simply need a VoLTE-capable device, an account provisioned for VoLTE, and an LTE signal from Globe’s roaming partners.
Customers are encouraged to check their device compatibility and enable VoLTE in their settings before traveling.
Globe has also launched VoLTE roaming with inbound roaming partners in the Philippines, making the service available to travelers.
