Maya has completed its transition to 100% recycled plastic for all newly produced wallet Qcards, reaching its year-end target ahead of schedule and making recycled materials the standard across its card portfolio.
The company began rolling out wallet cards made from recycled polyvinyl chloride (rPVC) in June 2026. The transition now covers newly produced Maya wallet cards powered by both Mastercard and Visa, while retaining the security, durability and functionality customers expect.
Customers can identify the cards by a “Made from 100% Recycled Plastic” mark printed on the back.
To celebrate the milestone, Maya is also launching the limited-edition Maya Bukad Card, a nature-inspired Visa card created with Filipino visual artist and illustrator Raxenne Maniquiz.
Inspired by bukadkad, the Filipino word for a flower in bloom, the card features Maniquiz’s colorful illustrations of flowers, foliage, and Philippine wildlife. The design brings local artistry to an everyday financial product while reflecting Maya’s focus on environmental stewardship.
Made from 100% recycled plastic, the Maya Bukad Card can be used for purchases and ATM withdrawals wherever Visa is accepted worldwide. It will be available through the Maya app beginning September 9 under the Cards tab.
For a limited time, the collaboration will also extend to a Bukad scarf featuring Maniquiz’s artwork. The scarf will be available exclusively at PURVEYR Fair on September 12–13 at the World Trade Center Tent. Customers who purchase the Maya Bukad Card for P350 at the fair can receive a Bukad scarf for free.
The card transition forms part of Maya’s broader sustainability efforts, alongside initiatives focused on financial inclusion, responsible innovation, customer trust, and environmental stewardship.
