foodpanda Philippines is allocating around P20 million for a rainy-season support program aimed at improving rider safety and providing additional earnings opportunities from June to August.

The initiative comes as the country enters the peak of the rainy season, with the platform introducing measures designed to help delivery partners navigate challenging weather conditions while maintaining operational safety.

“Our partner riders are essential to keeping local communities going, and their health and safety will always come before any delivery,” said Kyrinne Kate Viaje, Country Fleet Health Head of foodpanda Logistics Philippines.

“Our priority during severe weather is to equip riders with the right information and complete autonomy to decide when it is safe to be on the road. When operations are active during mild to moderate rain, we want to ensure those who choose to log on are fairly compensated for the extra time and care required,” she added.

foodpanda said it continuously monitors weather advisories and local road conditions, automatically pausing or restricting deliveries in areas affected by severe weather or flooding. Riders also receive advance in-app weather notifications to help them plan their schedules.

For deliveries made during mild to moderate rainfall, partner riders who choose to go online can receive additional trip incentives of P10 to P15 per order to help offset slower travel, detours, and more difficult road conditions.

Beyond seasonal assistance, the company said it continues to provide year-round rider safety training covering defensive riding, emergency preparedness, and safe driving during adverse weather.

foodpanda also reminds customers that severe weather may result in longer delivery times and encouraged them to be patient, keep their contact information updated, and use the app’s tipping feature, with all tips going directly to partner riders.
