BSP-regulated cryptocurrency platform Coins.ph has opened trading for xU3O8, a tokenized form of uranium, giving everyday Filipinos access to an asset that was once reserved almost exclusively for large institutions.

The launch of xU3O8 on Coins.ph marks a new step for the platform and for the Tezos blockchain ecosystem in the Philippines. It comes just two weeks after Coins.ph added tez (XTZ), the native token of Tezos, making it easier for local users to explore the network and its growing range of applications.

Founded in 2014, Coins.ph is one of the country’s most widely used all-in-one money apps. Alongside crypto trading, it allows users to pay bills, send remittances, and transfer money to banks—services that have made digital finance more accessible to millions of Filipinos.

The xU3O8 token represents fractional ownership of physical uranium ore concentrate, often called “yellowcake,” which is stored in a regulated facility in Canada. Traditionally, investing in uranium required buying at least 100,000 pounds—worth around US$8 million—and working with specialized brokers. For most people, that made uranium investing completely out of reach.

With xU3O8 now available on Coins.ph, users can now access uranium exposure with much smaller amounts. The token also allows for faster settlement, 24/7 trading, and clearer transparency through blockchain technology, compared to traditional commodity markets.

Together, the listings of xU3O8 and XTZ highlight Coins.ph’s growing support for the Tezos ecosystem. Locally, interest in Tezos has been rising, with recent NFT art events and community meet-ups in Manila signaling increasing adoption and awareness in the Philippines.
