Content creators—vloggers, musicians, video editors, you know the drill—need a laptop capable of handling heavy workloads. Their machine of choice should be able to deliver exceptional performance while multitasking and running demanding applications. Thankfully, there are laptops today that are powerful enough to produce large volumes of content with ease and simplicity.

Such is the case with the ASUS Vivobook Pro 16 OLED (K6602). This notebook features the latest 12th-gen Intel i7 processor and is equipped with a hefty 16GB of RAM and 1TB SSD.

What’s more, it has a sharp and vibrant 16-inch 120HZ OLED display that’s ideal for those who work with graphics, photos, and videos.

While I do much of my work-related activities at home, I’ve also been able to bring the Vivobook Pro 16 OLED along on occasional trips to the driving range for my exercise-slash-R&R time. And boy, I’m pleasantly surprised with this laptop’s performance both for system-strenuous activities like running multiple apps and for more leisurely activities like rewatching Shingeki No Kyojin’s penultimate piece de resistance after I finish up a routine 7-iron practice round.

Build quality & display

The ASUS Vivobook Pro 16 OLED is suave, sleek, and stylish. It’s slim at just 0.79 inches and weighs only 4.19 lbs, making it easy to carry around.

As mentioned, it comes with a 16-inch OLED display that has all the essential specs creatives and content creators look for: 16:10 aspect ratio, 120Hz refresh rate, Pantone-validated professional-grade color accuracy, and DisplayHDR True Black certification from VESA Display. This screen size is great for creativity and productivity tasks because the visual experience is better on larger screens.

While most of my work relies on white screen applications, such as Word and Excel, I was pleasantly surprised to have little to zero eye strain on the Vivobook’s display, even after a grueling stretch to finish a few reports over the course of an evening. This is thanks to the screen being TÜV Rheinland certified for eye-friendly low blue-light emissions and flicker-free operation. I’m also all for its narrow bezel feature, a no-nonsense design choice that allowed me to stay focused despite having multiple windows open.

For a 16-inch machine, it’s expected that this Vivobook is a little on the large side—but it’s thin and light enough to lug around. As a bonus, it’s US MIL-STD 810H tested, meaning those with butterfingers need not worry about its durability. We wouldn’t suggest using it as a shield against a .50 caliber, but it should work fine with a few knocks or even an accidental drop from the table.

The Vivobook Pro 16 OLED has a huge touchpad and a large keyboard with a separate number pad. To keep things interesting, ASUS added some details such as a diagonal stripe on the Enter key, an orange Escape key, and “Own the universe” printed above the function keys.

Performance & hardware

The Vivobook Pro 16 OLED’s powerful hardware delivers fast and responsive performance for multitasking and demanding applications. A five-second cold boot after pressing the power button? Yes, please.

Our review unit came with 16GB DDR4 RAM and 1 TB SSD, providing ample storage space and faster data access. Dare I say that the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050Ti is more than icing on the cake, but a solid addition to the arsenal of features that make this laptop a jaguar among the felines on the field. For those working long hours, there’s no need to fret about the computer getting too hot to the touch because ASUS’ IceCool Plus thermal technology ensures the Vivobook stays cool and performs at maximum capacity under pressure.

Maybe it’s my age, but lately, I’ve been more interested in playing games I used to play a few years back. I occasionally enjoy an hour or so playing Heroes of Newerth, thanks to Project KONGOR’s revival of the system. In fact, I thoroughly enjoyed—and won—a match I played on this laptop. No lags, no hitches, thanks to the Vivobook’s MUX Switch Feature that takes the load off of the laptop’s integrated graphics card and funnels all the power straight to the NVIDIA RTX for a 10~15% performance boost.

For connectivity, the Vivobook Pro features Wi-Fi 6E (802.11ac), Bluetooth 5, and the essentials for professionals on the go: 2 USB Type-C 3.2 ports, 2 USB 3.2 Type-A ports, 1 Thunderbolt 4 with display and power delivery, 1 HDMI 2.1 TMDS port, a 3.5mm Combo Audio Jack, an RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet port, and a microSD card reader.

Speed says

Overall, the ASUS Vivobook Pro 16 OLED is a great choice for anyone needing a powerful laptop. It’s a well-rounded machine that offers impressive performance and features that both creatives and gamers will enjoy. The P104,995 sticker price is quite a high price of admission, but if you’ve got the budget, this versatile machine is a good investment.
