Apple has announced the latest addition to its all-in-one desktop lineup: the new iMac featuring the powerful M4 chip and Apple Intelligence.

Wrapped in an ultra-thin design, this powerful iMac delivers up to 1.7x faster performance for everyday productivity and a 2.1x boost for demanding workflows like gaming and photo editing compared to previous M1 models.

The M4 chip enhances the iMac’s capability with a high-speed CPU and Apple’s most advanced graphics architecture, making it ideal for resource-intensive tasks and graphics-heavy applications. Users will notice smoother experiences, from multitasking and web browsing to more immersive gameplay in titles like the upcoming Civilization VII.

The new iMac comes standard with 16GB of faster unified memory—configurable up to 32GB. Meanwhile, the Neural Engine in M4 is now over 3x faster than on iMac with M1.

Powered by Apple silicon and the Neural Engine, Apple Intelligence—available in U.S. English with macOS Sequoia 15.1—includes system-wide Writing Tools for rewriting, proofreading, and summarizing text, plus a redesigned Siri that seamlessly combines voice and text commands and answers thousands of questions about Mac and Apple products.

New features coming in December include Image Playground for creating original images and Genmoji for making custom emojis in seconds. Siri will soon handle system tasks and respond more personally. In December,  ChatGPT will be integrated into Siri and Writing Tools, allowing users to access its expertise without needing to jump between tools.

The 24-inch iMac comes in seven vibrant colors: green, yellow, orange, pink, purple, blue, and classic silver. Each device is matched with color-coordinated accessories like the Magic Keyboard, Magic Mouse, and optional Magic Trackpad, all of which feature USB-C for easier charging.

The 4.5K Retina display is available with a nano-texture glass option to reduce glare and improve visibility.

There’s also a 12MP Center Stage camera supporting Desk View, making the iMac ideal for video calls. Center Stage automatically centers participants on a video call, while Desk View makes use of the wide-angle lens to show the user and a top-down view of the user’s desk. The latter is useful for virtual educators and DIY creators.

In terms of connectivity, the new iMac has four USB-C ports that support Thunderbolt 4. It also supports Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, and support for Touch ID.

Enhanced with macOS Sequoia, the iMac offers features such as iPhone Mirroring, enhanced Safari browsing, Distraction Control, and gaming features, such as Personalised Spatial Audio and Game Mode. The update also introduces a Passwords app for secure credential storage and customizable backgrounds for video calls.
