Xiaomi has kicked off its partnership with German camera and optics manufacturer Leica in grand style with the launch of the Xiaomi 12S Ultra.
The new flagship smartphone—part of the Xiaomi 12S series—boasts of a triple-rear camera system headlined by a 50MP main camera with a 1-inch Sony IMX989 sensor. This camera adopts an 8P aspheric lens, in order to address common photography issues such as flare, ghosting, and chromatic aberration. The two other units are a 48MP ultrawide and 48MP telephoto with 5x optical zoom.
In addition to the advanced optical design, the 12S Ultra also utilizes Leica imaging profiles: the Leica Authentic Look and Leica Vibrant Look—both offering enhanced creative freedom to the photographer.
For selfies and video chat, the 12S packs a 32MP shooter housed in a pinhole on the 6.73-inch AMOLED LTPO E5 panel.
The flagship device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 5G chipset with up to 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage.
It’s also equipped with two proprietary Xiaomi Surge chips—Xiaomi Surge P1 fast-charging chipset and Xiaomi Surge G1 battery management chipset—offering great improvements in battery management and overall user experience.
The 4,860mAh battery supports 67W wired charging, 50W wireless fast charging, and 10W reverse wireless charging.
