Dubbed the “studio in your pocket,” the recently launched vivo V27 5G comes with a powerful camera system and several photography-centric features like the Aura Light technology.

In addition, its form factor, hardware, and software were designed to make this phone the weapon of choice for all photography needs.

Here’s our first look at the vivo V27 5G.

Out of the box, the vivo V27 5G comes with a power brick, charging cable, SIM ejector pin, and a clear jelly case.

The star, of course, is the vivo V27 5G unit with its slim body at only 7.4mm. The Emerald Green colorway looks elegant. Further adding to the premium design of this phone are the AG glass panel and vivo’s proprietary photochromic technology, which changes the back panel’s color when exposed to light.

On the top-left sits the three-camera system housed in a slightly protruded rectangular module. The rear shooter is composed of a 50MP Sony IMX766 main sensor, 8MP ultrawide lens, and 2MP macro snapper. Leveling up the camera capabilities of the vivo V27 5G are features such as OIS+EIS dual-ultra stabilization and 4K at 30fps video shooting capabilities.

The camera system also includes a ring-shaped LED flash that vivo calls Aura Light. You can choose the intensity—fill light or soft light—depending on your shooting needs. Meanwhile, the software comes with a wide range of modes and filters. In particular, the Pro mode allows you to adjust exposure, shutter speed, white balance, and focus.

Here are a couple of sample photos we took using the Aura Light:

Flip to the front and the curved screen greets you with an expansive view interrupted only by a punch-hole notch that houses the 50MP selfie snapper with Eye AF and vlogging mode.

The 6.78-inch display is another feature that makes the vivo V27 5G a stylish phone. It uses an AMOLED panel with Full HD+ (2400 x 1080px) resolution and up to 120Hz refresh rate. It also supports HDR10 and 10-bit color, and has Widevine L1 certification. There’s also a fingerprint sensor built into the display.

vivo also kept it simple for the I/O ports and buttons of the phone. The volume rocker and power/lock button are located on the right side, which can easily be reached by the thumb when you’re holding the phone.

At the bottom are the USB-C port, flanked by the SIM card slot and the speaker grills. The vivo V27 5G only has a single speaker; there’s no headphone jack here. Another thing missing is the microSD card tray for storage expansion (there’s space for two nanoSIMs in the card slot).

Inside, the vivo V27 5G comes equipped with a 4nm MediaTek Dimensity 7200 octa-core processor. It has 12GB RAM with 8GB dynamic RAM (supporting up to 8GB RAM extension) and 256GB built-in storage. It runs on vivo’s FunTouchOS, based on Android 13.

Powering this phone is a 4600mAh battery with 66W fast-charging capabilities. It should be able to reach 100% in under 40 minutes.

Initial impressions

The vivo V27 5G is a gorgeous phone that offers a premium experience. During our first few days with it, the performance, so far, has been snappy and smooth. We’re also loving the camera. It provides versatility thanks to its various photo-centric features (Aura Light, dual stabilization, etc.), plus the output looks great based on our initial tests.

The vivo V27 5G retails for P24,999 and is currently available for pre-order until March 29 on vivo’s online store.
