The Philippine car market is getting a jolt of electricity with the arrival of Seres Auto.

The brand, first glimpsed at the 2024 Manila International Auto Show, is distributed locally by QSJ Motors Philippines and is initially offering a three-vehicle lineup of new energy vehicles slated for a September release.

Seres Auto, established in 1986 as a manufacturer of automotive and household appliance components, now focuses on producing new energy vehicles. These vehicles are built on Seres’ customizable MF platform that allows for pure electric, range-extended, and hybrid powertrains.

During the recent brand launch held at Okada Manila, Seres and QSJ Motors showcased the three electrified crossovers.

This midsize, 5-seater Seres 5 utilizes a range-extender plug-in hybrid powertrain. Both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive variants are powered by a 40kWh ternary lithium battery that promises a range of 158 to 184 kilometers. Additionally, the 1.5L turbo gasoline engine as a range extender offers an impressive claimed range of up to 1,250km.

The Seres 5 SF (Saker Falcon Edition) is the sportier version of the Seres 5 and features a redesigned exterior with a falcon wing-inspired DRL, a coupe-like silhouette, and larger 20-inch wheels. It’s a pure EV with a 90kWh lithium iron phosphate battery capable of up to 530km of range.

The Seres 7, on the other hand, is a spacious three-row electric SUV offered in both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive options. While the 40kWh battery provides a pure electric range of 162 to 166 kilometers, the addition of the 1.5-liter turbocharged range extender bumps up the total driving range to 1,200km.

While Seres’ flagship showroom along Quezon Avenue in Quezon City won’t open until 2025, an offsite experience center/test drive facility is slated to open in the third quarter of this year on the ground floor of the Primex Tower along EDSA.
