The Galaxy Z8 series wasn’t the only highlight at Samsung’s latest Galaxy Unpacked event. The company also took the wraps off the Galaxy Watch Ultra2 and Galaxy Watch9, its latest smartwatches featuring AI-powered health monitoring, upgraded hardware and improved battery life.

The Galaxy Watch Ultra2 is built for outdoor enthusiasts and high-performance athletes. It features an 800mAh battery, a 35% increase over its predecessor, and is powered by the new Snapdragon Wear Elite platform for improved performance and GPS accuracy. According to Samsung, the Ultra2 is the world’s first smartwatch with a peak brightness of 5,000 nits, improving visibility in bright outdoor conditions.

The Ultra2 introduces new sports tracking tools, including Trail Run, which provides elevation, climbing progress, and terrain impact data, alongside a Nutrition Alert feature that estimates sweat loss and recommends hydration.

It also supports professional diving with IP69K, 10 ATM, and EN13319 certifications, automatically tracking depth, dive time, and water temperature. Additional diving functions, developed with Mares, are expected later this year through the Ultra2 Diving app.

Despite its larger battery, the titanium-cased Ultra2 is 12% thinner than the previous generation, with redesigned lightweight bands aimed at improving comfort during 24/7 wear.

The Galaxy Watch9, on the other hand, is designed for wellness-conscious users looking to build healthier habits through continuous activity and sleep tracking. It features a lightweight aluminum case, a 390mAh battery, a 3,000-nit display, and the Snapdragon Wear Elite platform. Interchangeable soft-touch bands are designed to provide all-day comfort.

Both smartwatches share Samsung’s latest AI-powered health platform, which uses the BioActive Sensor to analyze biometric data and deliver personalized health insights. New features include Sleep Apnea detection, Vitals monitoring, Heart Health Score, Daily Cardio Load, Fitness Index and Hearing monitoring, providing users with guidance across sleep, cardiovascular health, recovery and fitness.

To complement the Galaxy Watch Ultra2, Samsung is introducing three specialized watch bands designed for different activities. These include the lightweight silicone Marine Band for water-based adventures, the hybrid PeakForm Band for both fitness and everyday wear, and the breathable fabric Trail Band for running and other outdoor activities.
