What better way is there to immortalize your fun summer getaways than by taking stunning photos? But while anyone can snap away with their trusty ol’ smartphone, capturing those memories with a capable device is a completely different story.

Launched last April 25, the realme 12 5G is the latest entry in the realme 12 series. It offers equally competitive features as the realme 12+ and Pro variants but at a more affordable price. These features include a camera system built to unleash the sunny summer vibes of your photos.

We took the realme 12’s camera for a spin when we reviewed the device last month. And we got to enjoy its features even more when we joined the realme Real Summer event in Zambales.

We used the realme 12’s camera to capture breathtaking snaps of Capones Island and Nagsasa Cove during the day and the Sundowners Resort thereafter. Now, let’s talk about the features of the realme 12 camera that you might want to check out to level up your photography game, just like how it did during our quick getaway.

108MP Samsung HM6 sensor

The main star of realme 12’s camera system is its 108MP Samsung HM6 sensor, which has 3x in-sensor zoom. With this technology, the massive shooter promises to produce clear photos both in default Photo Mode and Portrait Mode.

The realme 12’s 108MP main shooter is similar to that of the realme 12 Pro+ and, just like its premium sibling, the realme 12 creates photos with crisp details and a lot of light. This is particularly true when you’re snapping away outdoors and under the bright summer sun.

Take it from the photos we took in Zambales using the device. Our pictures had vivid colors and sharp details. They accurately captured the picture-postcard views we got to enjoy during our island-hopping adventure and quick staycation.

Mobile-friendly videos

If you had too much fun during your summer adventure, chances are, posting photos of it is just not enough. You would also want to share the real fun and action that took place with a reel or short video clip.

The realme 12 has you covered with its camera that can record mobile-friendly videos with a resolution of up to 1080p @30fps. Not only that, it has a Movie Mode that allows you to shoot pro-level videos with a few taps on the phone.

We recorded the highlights of our Zambales trip using the realme 12’s standard video mode and still, each clip was captured with good resolution. Actions were recorded precisely while backgrounds were enhanced with vivid colors and more light. Videos turn out as dynamic and immersive as the photos captured by the realme 12’s camera. Take a look below.

Low-light photography master

Summer calls not only for daytime trips to the beach but also for partying or lounging around during warm nights. For that, the realme 12’s camera comes in handy.

The 108MP main camera is built with pixel-binning technology that allows users to take clear photos at night or in the dark. This feature is backed by the realme 12’s NightEye Engine, which helps balance shadows and highlights.

True enough, the photos we took on the night of our Real Summer adventure all appeared lifelike, as they are both bright and deep-colored.  And although dimly lit scenarios are illuminated by the camera, they don’t appear filtered at all.

Portrait mode

Can you go on a vacation without taking selfies or snaps of yourself against the scenic view? Then make sure to utilize the realme 12’s Portrait Mode, which uses its 108MP camera to create beautiful portraits with a professional-looking blurry background. It focuses sharply on the subject, making special moments with friends and family during your travels stand out.

The device also has a Group Portrait Mode that uses its main camera’s improved facial recognition technology to capture everyone’s faces clearly. The feature delivered as promised when we tried it out with our new-found friends at the Real Summer event.

Precise panoramic mode

Sometimes the places we visit are just too beautiful to be captured in a mere standard-sized photo. And while almost all smartphones already have a panoramic mode to address that need, the realme 12’s wide-angle feature is one that’s worth taking note of.

Just like the rest of the device’s features, we tested the camera’s panoramic mode when we went island-hopping in Zambales. We were impressed by how it precisely captured the white sand and huge rock formations in Capones Island and more so, the people on it at that time. It did not distort anything—despite people moving—unlike other smartphone cameras.

Content editing at your fingertips

Another notable feature that makes the realme 12’s camera ideal for the summer is its photo and video editing tools.

Aside from letting you crop and rotate shots, the realme 12 allows you to enhance your selfie or group photos by removing blemishes and adjusting skin tone and eye size, among many other things.

When it comes to videos, the realme 12’s editing tools can improve your content with themes, soundtracks, filters, effects, and stickers. The device also allows you to trim your videos and even increase or reduce their speed to make them ready for posting on social media.

The realme 12 5G is priced at P14,999 and is available in realme stores and online via ShopeeLazada, and TikTok Shop.
