Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has taken the wraps off the new GR Yaris, now available with both manual and automatic transmissions.
Born from the World Rally Championship (WRC), the GR Yaris embodies Toyota Chairman Akio Toyoda’s “roads build cars” philosophy, emphasizing motorsports as a crucial development ground.
The new model features a bolder, aerodynamic exterior, 18-inch forged aluminum wheels, LED headlights, daytime running lamps, rear combination lamps, and a rear spoiler.
Under the hood, the GR Yaris packs a G16E-GTS 1.6L 3-cylinder turbo engine, delivering 276hp and 390Nm of torque. Other features include upgraded drive modes, a new sub-radiator, and intercooler spray for additional cooling.
The new GR Yaris comes in two variants: the new 1.6L Turbo A/T (P3,550,000), which has an 8-speed direct shift automatic transmission with paddle shifters, and the 1.6L Turbo M/T (P3,391,000) with 6-speed intelligent manual transmission.
The interior boasts a driver-focused cockpit with a 12.3-inch TFT meter display, a 7-inch display audio with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Toyota Safety Sense package with blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert. The A/T variant includes dynamic radar cruise control, while the M/T variant comes with adaptive cruise control.
The new GR Yaris is available in the following colorways: Super White, Emotional Red, Precious Black, and Precious Metal.
