Artificial intelligence (AI) skills are becoming a key factor in the Philippine job market, with 72% of businesses now considering AI knowledge when hiring candidates, according to Jobstreet by SEEK’s Hiring, Compensation & Benefits Report 2025.

Of these companies, 36% regard AI expertise as crucial, weighing it as heavily as other qualifications or even as a primary requirement. Employers assess applicants’ AI proficiency through technical questions or portfolio reviews, while some companies have begun leveraging AI-powered tools to streamline recruitment and identify top talent.

The survey, conducted late last year with over 2,000 respondents across industries and business sizes, also revealed notable compensation trends. About 78% of businesses implemented salary increases—mostly within the 1 to 5% range—while small enterprises have made significant progress in aligning pay structures and benefits with larger companies.

Bonuses remain a major retention tool, with 53% of employers granting performance bonuses. The average payout rose to about four months’ salary, higher than the previous year. Companies are likewise expanding benefits, offering medical insurance, health checks, and mental health support.

Jobstreet by SEEK, in a previous statement, revealed that the Philippines is leading Southeast Asia in adopting workplace DEI, with 63% of Filipino companies having DEI initiatives in place.
