Exercise daily, spend less, stop being marupok—our list of New Year’s resolutions can go and on. Even so, there’s only one goofproof way to accomplish each of them, which is by taking everything day by day.

While this is easier said than done, having a daily boost of motivation, like those you can find from local podcasts, can help you stick to your resolutions until the end of the year.

Tuning into podcasts has become a convenient, entertaining, and educational way to get better at life, as they aim to beef up your knowledge on a myriad of things, including yourself. Imagine just how motivated you could become when you listen to them every day.

To get you started, Speed.ph has listed Filipino podcasts that could help revamp your life this 2024, one episode at a time.

Adulting With Joyce Pring

Let’s face it, it’s already 2024 but many of us still struggle with the responsibilities of adulting. For that, Adulting With Joyce Pring will provide you with advice on relationships, career, faith, and “basically the important things that young adults, or those who are trying to adult, should be talking about.”

Joyce launched her podcast channel in October 2018 after feeling as if she was “going through a quarter-life crisis.” Since then, the 30-year-old TV personality has been using her podcast to share a bunch of tips.

In the episode “5 Hacks to Cope With Commute Stress,” for example, Joyce said that you can keep your cool amid the country’s heavy traffic by practicing mindful breathing, listening to podcasts and audio books, learning a new language through apps, and more.

Trying Hard with Lyqa Maravilla

New Year calls for new beginnings, and what better way to start it than getting a daily reminder that you have the power to do anything?

You can get that from Lyqa Maravilla’s Trying Hard podcast channel where the registered psychometrician encourages listeners to “dream big and work hard to achieve those dreams.”

In the episodes titled “I’m a Great Procastinator, and It Doesn’t Feel Great,” Lyqa shared tips on beating procrastination with her guest Madame Z.

Here, they suggested avoiding cramming by “revisiting the [tasks] you need to let go of,” reframing your goal, “setting a deadline that’s earlier than the actual 2024,” and creating a list of your priorities and other tasks.

Aside from this, the motivational speaker is offering friendly advice on “Problematic Panganay Pangs,” “When You Should Stop Trying and Start Letting Go,” “How to Set Boundaries,” among many other challenges you might need help with in 2024.

Underpaid by Stanley Chi

If you’ve been wanting to climb the corporate ladder but keep getting pulled down by office politics and whatnots, Stanley Chi’s Underpaid podcast could help you finally have a crack at it in 2024.

In this lighthearted and funny podcast, the popular financial guru talks about “anything and everything about the office, such as how to deal with your horrible boss, officemates, office politics” that could help you ace the corporate world.

Underpaid’s relatable and entertaining episodes include “Huwag Magpa-scam sa Online Jobs,” “Paano Mo Imo-motivate ang Isang Taong Wala Nang Gana Magtrabaho,” “How to Ask For a Raise,” and a “Happy Hour” series, which talks about topics like office bullying and office romance.

There’s also this episode where Stanley gave advice about a common office problem: should we kill backstabbing officemate with kindness or “magplastikan na lang kami?”

Stanley recommended, “When you love your job but hate your colleagues, you have to learn the art of deadma… Killing them with kindness is only one part, being civil with them is a close second. The other part is to be more patient with your co-workers because ang pikon ay talo o magre-resign.”

Million Dollar Filipino Freelancer

It may seem challenging for freelancers to double their income, but there are ways to go about it. Take it from Niel Reichl, host of the Million Dollar Filipino Freelancer podcast.

In his channel, the entrepreneur gives a “no-holds-barred discussion” on how to earn a huge income from self-employment.

This includes the basics of freelancing, how to tell a client when you’re missing a deadline, how to tell clients to pay you on time, how to apply for a US visa as a freelancer, and many more.

One example is his talk “The Anti-CDrama (client drama) Episode: Green and Red Flags in Prospecting.” Here, Niel gives tips on what to watch out for in clients who could end up wasting your time.

The entrepreneur warned against clients who say that there’s no limit to their budget when, in fact, there is; clients who only earn a small profit from their business; those who will ask you to deliver results within a small time frame; and many others.

Hugot Radio Podcast

2023 may be filled with the biggest celebrity breakups, but that doesn’t mean you have zero chances of finding your own “forever.” If you, too, are a broken-hearted Pinoy who wants to find joy in falling in love again, check out the Hugot Radio hosted by DJ Ron.

This podcast discusses love and life with the aim of helping broken-hearted folks “believe in love and keep the fire burning.”

Ron serves as a kuya who shares bite-sized advice on how to be wiser in love based on his own experiences as a self-confessed serial dater.

In the episode “Paano Makabingwit ng Lalaking High Quality,” Ron compared the act of attracting men to fishing, wherein different kinds of baits are used to catch certain types of fish.

Other Hugot Radio episodes you should check out include “Klase Ng Lalaki Na Dapat Mong Iwasan,” “Common Reasons Ng Hiwalayan,” “Paano Mag Move On Kung Laging Nakikita,” and “Paano Malalaman Kung Nagloloko Ang Partner Mo.”

The Jay Aruga Show

Some people have been embracing the ideals of “woke culture” on social justice and gender inclusivity, while some still prefer to go with tradition and stand firm on their faith.

If you think you belong in the latter and want to continue fighting for your beliefs in 2024, then The Jay Aruga Show is the podcast for you.

Touted as the first conservative podcast in the Philippines, the show caters to Pinoys who want to stay true to their Christian/Catholic beliefs on life, marriage, and family amid today’s “woke ideology.”

Take, for one, Jay’s episode about the “Sin of Gossiping” where he discussed whether or not spreading gossip is a sin, even if what you’ve been telling others is true.

Quoting paragraphs from the Catechism of the Catholic Church, Jay said that  information like this should not be broadcast to people whether they’re real or not. He said that in doing so, one could commit the “sin of detraction” or the “sin of calumny.”

Need more enlightenment this 2024? Listen to the rest of the channel’s episodes wherein Jay shares insights on current events affecting the Catholic faith and guest speakers tell inspirational stories related to religion.
