Hyundai Motor Philippines Inc. (HMPH) officially handed over three Hyundai Staria commuter units to the Department of Science and Technology – Science and Technology Information Institute (DOST-STII).

The fleet shall be utilized particularly for the DOST-STII’S pioneering project, the Science and Technology Academic and Research-Based Openly Operated KioskS (STARBOOKS), as well as its award-winning broadcast platform, DOSTv: Science for the People.

STARBOOKS is a portable information hub focused on science, technology, engineering, and mathematic (STEM) resources for educational institutions, LGUs, and NGOs.

DOSTv, on the other hand, is a TV program featuring shows like ExperTalk and public service bulletins from PAG-ASA and PHIVOLCS.

While STARBOOKS is designed to be portable, its deployment poses challenges due to diverse terrains and unpredictable road conditions across the country. Similarly, the DOSTv production team encounters obstacles when traveling vast distances and covering far-flung areas.

The Hyundai Staria is an obvious choice for these tasks due to its spacious interior, strong powertrain and suspension, and advanced safety features.

“We are glad to have been given the opportunity to contribute toward the causes of STARBOOKS and DOSTv,” said Hyundai Motor Philippines president Lee Dong Wook. “Their missions closely resonate with ours as we constantly find ways to become more present in the lives of our customers and communities of which we are a part.”
