Honda Foundation, Inc. (HFI) marked this year’s Arbor Day celebration by planting 2,000 trees in the Sierra Madre Mountains in Barangay Magsaysay, Siniloan, Laguna on June 2, 2026.
Arbor Day is an annual event held to promote tree planting, combat deforestation, and foster ecological stewardship.
The activity forms part of HFI’s five-year tree-planting and livelihood program, a long-term partnership with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and the Magsaysay Coconut Farmers Association (MACOFA), with support from the local government of Siniloan.
Launched in 2024 under the DENR’s National Greening Program, the initiative aims to combat deforestation while promoting environmental sustainability and community development. With the latest planting activity, the program has reached its target of 14,000 fruit-bearing trees over three years. Aside from restoring forest cover, the project also helps improve air and water quality while contributing to natural flood control in surrounding communities.
The recent tree-planting event gathered 80 volunteers, including HFI members, DENR and MACOFA representatives, and government partners, highlighting a shared commitment to environmental conservation.
