Globe has announced that its prepaid eSIM will be available by the end of the month via the GlobeOne app.
Prepaid users with a registered GlobeOne account can simply request for a new eSIM on the app.
This shift to a digital-only model ensures that Globe’s customers are spared the inconvenience of store visits or physical SIM delivery, making the transition to eSIM both sustainable and efficient.
“At Globe, we’re always looking ahead, anticipating the needs of our customers in an ever-evolving digital landscape. The prepaid eSIM captures our vision of a seamless, digital-first mobile experience, marrying innovation with convenience,” Darius Delgado, Head of Globe’s Consumer Mobile Business, said.
The eSIM offers various advantages. It allows users to have multiple eSIMs on one device and use two phone numbers at the same time. Additionally, eSIMs can be used in devices like smartwatches, ensuring seamless conenection under a single mobile number.
The roll-out of the prepaid eSIM has a positive environmental impact as well. By replacing physical SIM cards with digital ones, the use of plastic and the environmental impact associated with manufacturing and distributing physical SIM cards is reduced.
