Interest in cryptocurrency continues to grow among Filipinos, but for many, curiosity is often matched with hesitation. A 2025 Consensys survey shows that while 96% of Filipinos are aware of crypto and more than half are considering investing this year, many still feel unsure about where—or how—to start.

To help bridge that gap, GCash has launched “A Beginner’s Guide to Cryptocurrency,” a free and exclusive in-app guide available through GCrypto. Written and illustrated by Luis Buenaventura, Head of GCrypto and a well-known Filipino crypto pioneer, the guide is designed to make crypto less intimidating and more relatable for everyday users.

Instead of technical jargon, the guide uses storytelling and familiar scenarios—such as budgeting, saving, and dealing with inflation—to explain concepts like Bitcoin, digital wallets, and market volatility. “Storytelling makes learning personal and relatable,” Buenaventura shared. “By grounding financial concepts into everyday examples, we aim to make complex topics like crypto approachable for anyone,” he said.

The guide is divided into eight easy-to-follow chapters, starting with why cryptocurrency was created and how it relates to real-world economic challenges. It then walks readers through Bitcoin’s growth, risks, and rewards, while setting realistic expectations around investing. Importantly, it emphasizes that crypto should complement—not replace—traditional savings and investments.

Later chapters introduce tools like wallet apps and basic trading concepts, as well as other cryptocurrencies such as Ethereum, stablecoins, and even memecoins. The guide also highlights the right mindset for investing, touching on discipline, long-term thinking, and staying grounded during market swings.

Available directly on GCrypto—a secure marketpace within the GCash app—the guide allows users to learn and explore at their own pace. Users can access the book by opening the GCash app, tapping ‘Grow,’ and selecting GCrypto.
