The Epson LabelWorks LW-K400 is a label printer that’s portable and easy to use. At 410 grams, it’s comfortable to hold in both hands for thumb typing.
Its built-in keyboard makes text entry easy, while the backlit LCD screen lets you preview two rows of text at a time. Make sure to double-check for typo on the screen before printing!
Once you figure out the user interface of the LW-K400 (it took us less than 10 minutes, and that’s without reading the manual), you can now type, print, cut, and stick away. On the top edge of the unit is where the label comes out, while on the right edge is the cut button that you need to press once you’re done printing.
This versatile handheld label maker features 14 font types, 87 frames, and 780 symbols so you can create different labels depending on your needs. It also supports barcode/QR code printing, as well as label media in various widths (6. 9, 12, or 18mm), colors, and finishes. I like that there’s a shift key since it makes inputting symbols on the number keys easier.
For faster label making, the LW-K400 has a built-in memory, which lets you store up to 50 custom label designs. This way, it’s easier to recall these labels should you need to print them again some time—no need to retype!
Another nice thing about the LW-K400 is that margins can now be cut to 1mm. This smaller side margin, plus the ability to print up to four lines on one label, means reduced tape wastage. Tape cartridges cost between P380 to P650 depending on the size and design. The Epson LabelWorks LW-K400 Label Printer, on the other hand, is priced at P2,945.
The LW-K400 comes with an AC adapter, but can also be powered by 6AA batteries if you need to work untethered to a power outlet.
Do we recommend the LW-K400? Yes. If you constantly organize your pantry, print out tags for easy identification of cords and cables, and label your storage containers and supplies, among other things, then this user-friendly label printer is a good investment.
