Hyundai Motor Philippines (HMPH) introduced the N Brand on opening day of the 2024 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS), unveiling not just the motorsports-inspired Elantra N but also the recently crowned 2024 World Performance Car of the Year, the IONIQ 5 N

“Since the N brand was founded in 2012, a tight-knit community of N-Fans has been formed. From racetracks, parking lots to car meets—so we are very much looking forward to be starting our own group of Filipino Nthusiasts,” said HMPH President Dongwook Lee.

HMPH’s opening day activities were led by Lee, who also unveiled its booth’s centerpiece, the Elantra N TCR, the same one that won the 2023 TCR World Tour Championship.

With roots originating from the Elantra N TCR, the Elantra N embodies Hyundai’s motorsports heritage in a road car designed for driving enjoyment.

The Elantra N boasts a lower, wider stance and a more aggressive front bumper design. The black anodized emblem, a new signature of the N brand starting with this model, further emphasizes its sporty image. There are also N-specific red accents, such as those on the front and rear bumpers and side sill moldings.

In front, the air vents have been designed to improve airflow for cooling the car’s brakes. Wider Michelin tires and larger brake discs on 19-inch alloy wheels enhance grip. At the rear, a bridge wing-type spoiler is added to boost aerodynamics and stability.

Inside, the Elantra N features leather seats, N-specific steering wheel, power tilt & slide sunroof, wireless charging tray, a 10.25” infotainment display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, and an 8-speaker Bose sound system.

The Elantra N is powered by a 2.0 turbocharged engine paired with an 8-speed dual clutch transmission, producing 276hp and 392Nm. It can go from 0 to 100kph in 5.3 seconds courtesy of the “Launch Control,” a technology normally used in racing that helps reduce wheel spin during hard acceleration from a standstill.

For safety and comfort, the Elantra N is equipped with dix airbags and Hyundai Smart Sense functions including bind spot collision-avoidance assist, manual speed limit assist, and parking distance warning, among others.

The Elantra N will be sold in four colors—Atlas White, Abyss Black Pearl, Cyber Gray Metallic, and Performance Blue—for P2,738,000.

Meanwhile, the award-winning features that customers have come to love with the IONIQ 5 have been seamlessly integrated with exciting racetrack capabilities in the new IONIQ 5N. This compact SUV combines the standard model’s patented Electrified Global Modular Platform or E-GMP with the N Brand’s three pillars: Corner Rascal, Racetrack Capability and Everyday Sportscar.

To ensure the IONIQ 5 N excels in cornering, it’s reinforced with a sturdier body and chassis. Dual-motor AWD and integrated drive axles offer better control and reduced weight, supported by 21-inch wheels. Tuned Rack-Mounted Motor-Driven Power Steering provides sharper response and feedback to the driver for an engaging experience.

The IONIQ 5 N boasts high-performance features for an exhilarating racetrack experience. When N Grin Boost is engaged, it produces up to 641hp, reaches a top speed of 260kph, and accelerates from 0 to 100 in just 3.40 seconds. N Battery Pre-Conditioning and N Race features manage energy usage accordingly. The IONIQ 5 N is equipped with top-notch thermal management and regenerative braking systems.

Hyundai N engineers created N e-shift and N Active Sound+ functions to improve driver feedback and control. These features enhance the driving experience by providing a more engaging shift feeing and mimicking the engine and exhaust sounds of traditional combustion engine vehicles.

The IONIQ 5 N retails for P4,250,000 as is available in five color options: Atlas White, Abyss Black Pearl, Cyber Gray Metallic, Performance Blue, and Performance Blue Matte. It comes with a 5-year/200,000km vehicle warranty, 8 years/160,000km high voltage battery warranty, and automobile track coverage.
