Former UP Fighting Maroon Eduard Flores smashed his personal record in his international debut at the Tokyo Speed Race on May 3, clocking 31:41 in the Men’s 10km and beating his previous best of 31:50.
Held in the heart of Japan’s capital, Tokyo Speed Race—presented by ASICS—featured 125 elite athletes and resulted in an incredible three Area Records, 10 National Records, and 48 Personal Bests.
Flores’ performance stood out not only for the time he posted but also for his impressive pacing—starting strong with a 2:57 split in the first 1.3km loop and closing with a blazing 2:51 sprint.
Meanwhile, another Filipino, Ayn Bernos, participated in the 5km run and finished with a personal best of 33:26.
All personal bests at the event were achieved by elite athletes wearing ASICS’ latest METASPEED™ Tokyo Series, which includes the METASPEED™ RAY, METASPEED™ SKY TOKYO, and METASPEED™ EDGE TOKYO shoes.
