Vacuuming can sometimes feel like a never-ending battle. You go through your entire home thinking you’ve conquered every crumb and speck of dust only to find—after you’ve put away the vacuum cleaner—a patch of dust lurking under a chair and a forgotten corner beneath the bed.
Well, Dyson has a solution. CleanTrace is an augmented reality (AR) tool designed to enhance home cleaning by using AR to visualize in real-time where you’ve cleaned and any spots you’ve missed.
By utilizing LiDAR technology from your phone, CleanTrace maps the room and overlays cleaning paths. After cleaning, you can scan the room with your phone to identify missed areas. The Dyson Gen5detect then acoustically senses and counts the dust particles, showing proof of a deep clean.
“We realized that we could all learn a thing or two from the methodical cleaning approach of our robot vacuums. Unlike most humans doing the cleaning, Dyson robots know where they are in the room, where they have been, and where they have yet to go,” said Charlie Park, VP of Engineering, Dyson Home.
“With the Dyson CleanTrace, we add this extra layer of cleaning intelligence to the Gen5detect vacuum,” he added.
To use Dyson CleanTrace, you’ll need the AR tool in the MyDyson app and a phone clamp. It works with LiDAR-capable smartphones and the Dyson Gen5detect cordless vacuum. Alas, there’s no news yet on when CleanTrace will be available in the Philippines.
