Your toothbrush can now see where you’re not cleaning. Dyson’s new CameraJet uses a built-in camera and machine learning to detect the gaps between your teeth, then automatically sends a precision jet of mouthrinse to those spots as you brush.
At the heart of the system is a 100,000-pixel macro-lens camera powered by Dyson’s Gap Optical Targeting technology. The camera scans 28 images per second, allowing the toothbrush to detect, track, and predict interdental gaps in real time. When a gap is identified, the system can trigger a mouthrinse jet within 100 milliseconds.
Dyson says the technology is designed to address one of the most commonly missed areas during daily oral-care routines: the spaces between teeth, where plaque can accumulate.
The CameraJet is also designed to combine brushing, flossing, and rinsing into a single routine. Its conical jet uses a broader spray profile than traditional needle-type water jets, while Dyson says its lower-pressure design is intended to be gentler on gums and enamel.
For brushing, the device uses Dyson’s variable sonic oscillation, which changes the angle of movement to help keep the bristles moving against the tooth surface. Its dual-bristle brush head combines firmer inner bristles for surface stains with softer outer bristles for the gumline.
The toothbrush connects to the MyDyson app, where users can access guided cleaning, coverage mapping, brushing and flossing insights, and personalized feedback. The app helps users understand where they are cleaning effectively, where they may be missing, and how to improve their technique over time. Users can also customize their experience, choosing between auto-detect and manual jetting modes, and adjusting brushing intensity to their comfort level.
For privacy, the camera only activates during live viewing or auto-jetting, and Dyson says images are neither recorded nor stored on the device or in the cloud.
Dyson developed the CameraJet over six years as part of a broader Dyson Dental System, which also includes specially formulated non-foaming toothpaste and a low-foaming mouthrinse.
There’s no word yet on when the Dyson Dental System will arrive in the Philippines or how much it will cost. Those interested can register their interest to receive updates on its local launch.
