A new way to explore the Philippines is taking shape—one that’s cleaner, more efficient, and powered by innovation. In partnership with the Department of Tourism (DOT) and ACMobility, BYD Cars Philippines showcased the future of mobility through “Drive Electric. Love Pinas.”—a movement that reimagines how Filipinos traverse the archipelago.

By combining BYD New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) with a rapidly expanding charging network, the campaign offers a more seamless and economical way to travel across the country—especially as fuel prices continue to rise.

This was put to the test in a 22-day adventure led by Wil Dasovich, who guided an electrified convoy from Ilocos Norte to General Santos City—island-hopping across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. The journey highlighted the reliability of EV technology and set two Guinness World Records: most cities visited in continuous journey by a battery electric vehicle (BEV) and most cities visited in a continuous journey by a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV).

The campaign officially kicked off in Laoag, Ilocos Norte, where the convoy—headlined by the BYD Shark 6 DMO—navigated the La Paz Sand Dunes before heading south through Pagudpud and onward to Baguio. There, the Shark 6 demonstrated its prowess on steep mountain roads, powered by BYD’s Blade Battery and Dual Mode Off-road (DMO) technology.

In Pampanga, widely regarded as the Culinary Capital, the team collaborated with food content creator Kuya Kurt to explore Tutulari Avatar Gorge and dine at Bale Datung. The BYD Sharl 6 DMO’s Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology even powered the team’s gear off-grid during the trek, reinforcing the versatility of electric vehicles beyond transportation.

Upon reaching Metro Manila, the convoy recharged at Makati’s Corinthian Car Park using a 480kW DC fast charger—currently the country’s fastest—before stopping at the Michelin-starred Hapag Manila.

The route then continued through Quezon and Bicol, with cultural stops such as Ugu Bigyan’s Pottery Garden in Tiaong, before finally crossing into the Visayas.

The journey into the Visayas marked a historic first. Crossing into Cebu, the team explored heritage spots and met with local media at BYD Cebu Central, where they powered an entire DJ booth using the Shark 6 DMO’s Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology.

In Moalboal, Dasovich participated in a freediving experience alongside the famed sardine run, capturing the essence of the “Love Pinas” campaign.

Mindanao brought a new wave of adventure for the convoy, beginning with its arrival in Pagadian City. The team then embraced local adventures—whitewater rafting in Cagayan de Oro, indulging in pineapple ice cream at Camp Phillips, and taking in sweeping views of Bukidnon from above through paragliding at Mt. Anahawon Ridge.

In Davao, the campaign took on a more community-focused dimension as the team visited the House of Hope Foundation for Kids with Cancer to distribute care packages—underscoring that the journey was as much about connecting with communities as it was about the road ahead.

Another highlight was the Kadayawan Tribal Village, where Bogart the Explorer joined Dasovich in celebrating the heritage of Davao’s 11 tribes.

The journey concluded in General Santos City, the Tuna Capital of the Philippines, with a celebration at BYD GenSan.

Powering the 3,500-kilometer journey was the ACMobility Philippine EV Spine Network, with more than 160 charging points strategically placed across the country. From Robinsons Pagadian to provincial PTT stations, the network proved that traveling the Philippines in an EV is now a reality.

Supporting every kilometer was the reliability only the world’s No. 1 NEV brand can provide. BYD’s 79 dealerships nationwide and 24/7 Roadside Assistance ensured the convoy had a safety net stretching the full length of the Philippines.

By covering 102 cities and municipalities, the “Drive Electric. Love Pinas.” campaign officially put range anxiety to rest. It demonstrated that, with a growing charging network and reliable EV technology, long-distance sustainable travel across the Philippines is now practical and worry-free.
