Swiss watchmaker DOXA pays tribute to the late adventure novelist Clive Cussler on what would have been his 93rd birthday.

Cussler, whose Dirk Pitt novels featuring the iconic orange-dial DOXA SUB fueled the brand’s popularity, was an avid adventurer himself. He was a dedicated shipwreck hunter through National Underwater and Marine Agency (NUMA), the non-profit he founded in 1979.

DOXA’s new special edition SUB 300T Sharkhunter Clive Cussler, unveiled on July 15 (Cussler’s birthday) honors this spirit of exploration. The stainless steel watch with an aged patina is reminiscent of the first SUB 300T Clive Cussler edition.

It boasts a black Sharkhunter dial displaying hours, minutes, seconds, and date, adorned with striking white hands and indexes. with compass rose markings. This emblem reflects Cussler’s fascination with the mysteries beneath the waves, with each direction symbolizing the allure of discovery:

What truly sets it apart, however, is the elegant compass rose marking the four cardinal points. This emblem reflects Cussler’s fascination with the mysteries beneath the waves, with each direction sumbolizing the allure of discovery:

  • North: Representing the relentless pursuit of truth and discover
  • South: Evoking the thrill of the unknown
  • East: Highlighting the drive for innovation
  • West: Marking the fulfillment of quests and the uncovering of hidden treasures

Engraved on the caseback are the names of shipwrecks and other historical artifacts discovered or explored by NUMA.

As a watch built for adventure, the SUB 300T comes with a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment, Super-LumiNova for low-light visibility, and a Swiss automatic movement with a 38-hour power reserve.

Water-resistant to 300 meters, it comes with a ‘beads of rice’ metal bracelet in aged steel and a sportier FKM rubber strap, both featuring folding clasps with wetsuit extensions.

This 42.5mm timepiece is limited to 93 pieces with the serial number engraved on the inside of the lugs. A portion of the sales of the watch will be donated to NUMA.
