BYD Cars Philippines has expanded its local new energy vehicle (NEV) lineup with the launch of the facelifted Seal 5 DM-i plug-in hybrid sedan and the all-new Atto 2 compact SUV.

The updated Seal 5 DM-i is offered in Essential and Dynamic variants and features BYD’s fifth-generation Super DM-i plug-in hybrid technology. According to BYD, the model achieved a combined driving range of up to 2,181 kilometers during an efficiency run conducted with the Automobile Association Philippines (AAP).

The Essential variant delivers up to 55km of all-electric driving from its 7.42kWh Blade Battery, while the Dynamic extends electric range to 115km with a larger 18.3kWh battery before the gasoline engine seamlessly takes over for longer trips.

Inside, the Seal 5 DM-i comes equipped with an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic climate control, rear air vents, and a 522-liter trunk expandable to 1,295L with the rear seats folded. Standard safety features include cruise control, tire pressure monitoring, rear parking sensors, Vehicle Dynamic Control, Hill Hold Control, Automatic Vehicle Hold, and multiple airbags.

Joining the sedan is the all-new Atto 2, a compact SUV available as either a battery electric vehicle (BEV) or a plug-in hybrid using BYD’s Super DM-i system. The fully electric variant offers up to 380km of driving range, while the twp DM-i versions deliver up to 45km of electric-only driving and a combined range of 1,340km based on an AAP-backed efficiency run.

All Atto 2 variants use BYD’s Blade Battery, while the range-topping DM-i Premium adds the company’s DiPilot advanced driver assistance system. The EV model also features Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability, allowing the vehicle to power external appliances and electronic devices.

Safety comes standard across the Atto 2 lineup, with the DM-i Premium further enhancing driver confidence through BYD’s DiPilot advanced driver assistance system. The cabin is equipped with touchscreen infotainment across all variants, including a larger 12.8-inch display for the EV model and a 10.1-inch unit for the DM-i variants, both with smartphone connectivity.
