As electric vehicles (EVs) become more common in the Philippines, knowing what to expect from ownership is just as important as choosing the right vehicle. From understanding new technologies to learning about charging and running costs, reliable information can help drivers make the shift to electric mobility with greater confidence.
Recognizing this need, ACMobility’s Drive Electric. EV Safety Program continued its rollout at the Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit (PEVS) last October, following its launch in August. The initiative aims to educate EV owners, prospective buyers, fleet operators, and the public on EV technology, safety, and responsible ownership.
For BYD, this effort complements the growing owner communities forming around its vehicles, where drivers can exchange advice and share firsthand experiences.
“We’re glad to see BYD owners building communities where they can learn from and support one another. We want to continue celebrating these groups by helping provide access to relevant information, knowledge, and support throughout the ownership journey,” said Bob Palanca, Managing Director of BYD Cars Philippines.
“At the same time, listening to our owners gives us an opportunity to learn from their experiences and better understand their needs as we work to grow awareness of electrified mobility in the Philippines,” he added.
For Aaron Estabillo, a BYD Sealion 6 owner and member of the group’s moderator team, these communities offer a practical way to learn from fellow drivers. “The most common benefit is you get to see everything from everyone’s point of view. I learn from other owners the things I may have missed myself,” he said.
Apart from exchanging tips on vehicle features, everyday driving, and ownership costs, members also organize camping trips, outreach programs, and vehicle gatherings. These activities give owners opportunities to connect beyond their shared interest in electric vehicles.
As BYD’s lineup grows, these communities offer both new and existing owners a space to navigate the realities of EV ownership together.
