Watsons, in partnership with improv group SPIT Manila, recently held an engaging vaccination awareness event titled “As A Matter of Vaxx: Get Your Vaccine Facts Straight.”

The program aimed to educate the public and address vaccine hesitancy through a mix of informative discussions and fun entertainment.

The program kicked off with a panel discussion featuring esteemed medical experts Dr. Minette Claire Rosario, Dr. Cristina Alberto, Dr. Gilinezabel De La Fuente, and Dr. Nicole Anne Buenavista. Moderated by Dr. Kilimanjaro Tiwaquen, the panel delivered valuable information on the benefits of vaccines and dispelled common myths surrounding immunization.

They emphasized that vaccines help in creating a healthier community as they are safe, effective, and necessary to protect against illnesses such as flu, pneumonia, HPV, shingles, and hepatitis B. By debunking misinformation and presenting accurate facts, the doctors aimed to equip the audience with a better understanding of why vaccines are a vital component of public health.

Brand partners from GlaxoSmithKline, Merck Sharpe & Dohme, Exeltis, Pfizer, and Unilab were present to support the event.

Following the discussion, SPIT Manila used their signature interactive skits and audience participation to make the topic of vaccination engaging and relatable. Actress and comedian Rufa Mae Quinto also joined the group’s performance.

“Vaccinations are a crucial line of defense against outbreaks. Getting vaccinated is a simple, safe, and effective way to protect yourself, your loved ones, and the community. This is the message we wanted to drive home with this initiative,” said Jared De Guzman, Customer Director of Watsons Philippines.

“We hope that by bringing medical experts and engaging acts from SPIT Manila together, we can encourage more people to get vaccinated and help dispel common misconceptions and myths surrounding immunization,” he added.
