The newest trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie gives fans their clearest look yet at the next big-screen adventure—and officially welcoming Mario’s long-time pal Yoshi into the cinematic universe. The animated sequel follows 2023’s The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which earned more than $1.3 billion worldwide.
Chris Pratt and Charlie Day return as Mario and Luigi, joined once again by Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Jack Black as Bowser, and Keegan-Michael Key as Toad.
The trailer opens with Mario and Luigi racing across a desert on motorbikes before arriving at the inverted pyramid from Super Mario Odyssey’s Sand Kingdom. Sent to clear a blocked Warp Pipe, the brothers power up with Fire Flowers and head underground, where they discover the source of the blockage—Yoshi. Voiced for the first time, the iconic dinosaur is initially cautious but soon joins the group.
The trailer then shifts into a fast-paced montage featuring Mario and Peach infiltrating a lava-filled fortress reminiscent of Bowser’s Castle, Luigi saving Toad from a giant Cheep Cheep while wearing the Frog Suit, and the introduction of characters such as Birdo, Mouser, and Lakitu.
The trailer closes with Yoshi holding a Super Scope–inspired weapon and Toad holding Baby Luigi and Baby Mario as the team squares off against a T-Rex straight out of Super Mario Odyssey.
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, co-financed by Universal Pictures and Nintendo, will be released worldwide by Universal Pictures. It arrives in Philippine cinemas on April 4.
